Tears were shed!
Wow! This is the second anime I'm excited about this season!
Defintely want them to keep going forward since I never read the manga and hopefully bring back the same director and gorgeous animation style! I really cant see how anyone would have a problem with the animation, it was gorgeous and fluid 90% of the time and anime usually is really jerky.

I want this only! This is the first anime I've been excited about in a long time! I just ordered the two volume set off rightstuf last night so I could rewatch the series, and now I have this to look forward to! I agree that it would be best if they pick up right where they left off, same voices, same artist, and I really hope they get the music right again. I still listen to the first two intros from time to time, just to get me pumped up!

This is great news, and will get me back into anime for a while. I can't imagine that they'd start over from the beginning, but do you think they'll redo the OVA and the movie? As they were pretty hastily done, with cuts to accomodate for time. I'm fine either way though.

These exact same words crossed my mind when I read the first post LOL. This is probably the only anime I'm excited to see atm. I haven't been able to really enjoy a series (not even geass or gundam 00, unfortunately), but it was mostly likely because I had no personal attachments. I've been following Hajime manga for sooooooo long, so definitely looking forward to see this.

EDIT:

From the little bit that I see not cutoff, the magazine talks about the anime on its 2000 - 2002 run. I'm sure they will be continuing where they last left off, and not remaking the series. It wouldn't be plausible to do a remake anyway, considering the interval of time that has passed and the girth of the manga left.

They are continuing where they last left off, post Kimura vs Mashiba.

And for those worried, it is Madhouse Studios again.

Sweet. Is there any word on how many episodes are they planning? I heard 90, which would be amazing, but I don't really believe that, even though they have more than enough material to work with to come up with 90 episodes.

im praying they will do enough episodes to cover

the brian hawk vs takumara fight

and

ippo vs Sawamura Ryuuhei

those fights are gonna be epic watching.

I wonder if their going to use the same music in the 2nd series.

the 1st series the fighting music was brilliant

Can't imagine they wouldn't, it should be one of the very first fights since Takamura finally got the challenger at the end of the last series.

I can already predict where this new series is gonna end (if only to give the manga story more room to advance further)! Oh yes, they're gonna "build it up", they're gonna "hype it to death", everyone will be "shivering with anticipation"....and then.... *BAM!* Series Ends!

*Manga readers you should know what I'm talkin about!*

Just how will they animate Date versus Martinez. It's like hi DBZ style 4-5 episode match but then it turns out you never even landed a bruise on the champ. The man's a beast.

That's why he is called "Diablo"by hard core Hni fans.

For those of you who do not know wtf we're talking about watch the spoiler below.
It is an awesome vid editing the manga into a slide show with great Music.

Spoiler for Eiji Date vs. Ricardo Martinez: REVENGE:

YES!!! The godly Martinez!

He spared with Miyata and he gets countered everytime! Ippo didn't land punches he was left jabbed and daze when the spar was over. The author is 100% Bias when it comes to this guy, even in the games he's the strongest! He can beat Takamura and take hits from the Bear, if you ever played HNI in the ps2.
