I wonder why most, if not all people seem to think that Asians are good at/like Maths. I am Chinese, and I can tell you I hate Maths with all my heart and soul, and so do my other friends. Where does this belief/perception originate from?

I know all too many Chinese to conform with that stereotype. Being a race traitor allows you to do various kinds of wonders.

Well, there are more than one billion of chinese in the world, if 10% of them were good in math, it would still be one hundred million good-at-math asians...

The fifth largest country in the world (Brazil) in area has 190mil inhabitants, so just imagine... (By the way, China is the second largest, only after Russia)

The point is you don't take stereotypes at face value.

But steretypes exist. And people find them humorous. Outside of idiots, most don't take them at face value. They're jokes.

The jokes are often not ironic enough though.

Well it's known by a lot of people that education is considered a very important thing in Asian cultures, so there has been the long-time stereotype that Asians are all geniuses at everything.

If anyone here lives in America or Canada, if you tried explaining to a high school student that had zero knowledge of a Japanese school curriculum, from the fact they go 6 out of 7 days (instead of 5) of the week and only have 1 full month for summer vacation (instead of 2), the student would probably get the easy impression of Asians being workaholics.

Heck I told my sister about it once and she didn't believe me their school year ended in March and started in April.
