It's Complicated: Turkey Enters Anti-ISIS Air War, Bombs Kurds:

"As if the fledgling campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria could not get any more
complicated, Turkey decided to finally open up its airspace and bases for Allied
aircraft and began flying its own airstrikes on targets in Iraq and Syria. The only
problem: it also flew air strikes of Kurdish PKK targets in Northern Iraq. The same
Kurdish PKK that has been fighting valiantly against ISIS.

Turkey has been reluctant to take part in the fight against ISIS, even though it
was happening right along its southern border. After a year of coalition air
operations in both Syria and Iraq, Turkey did an about-face on abstention policy
and announced that it would open its bases to aircraft associated with Operation
Inherent Resolve and that it would use its own massive and highly modern air
arm to fly missions against the Islamic State.

This decision was made after two deadly border incidents occurred last week,
both of which were blamed on ISIS. The first occurred when a Turkish soldier was
killed during a border clash with ISIS fighters, and the second came when 30
people were killed by a suicide bomber in the town of Suruc."

TURKEY: You want us to fight an obviously evil and expansionistic group of religious extremists on our southern border whose existence threatens to destabilize the entire region? I dunno, is there any way we can use this to screw the Kurds? There is? Great, sign us up!

I have always asked this question in my mind: DEFCON 1 when? At least those who got caught in it will die too, the slaves and ones soon to have their heads cut off later. Best mercy we can give.

VICE News Journalists Transferred to Prison Hours From Legal Help

I have always loved VICE for their journalists' insanity - covering the worst places on Earth and loading it free on youtube.

Now Erdogan is being twisty on all these. Nice politics incoming next year.

Russia Puts Boots on the Ground in Syria:

"The numbers are small, but Moscow may be looking at its own version
of mission creep in the treacherous Middle East."

"As if Moscow weren’t satisfied with the game in Ukraine, the last month
has seen a flurry of reports about its ever-expanding military
involvement in Syria.

One report has even alleged that Russian pilots are gearing up to fly
missions alongside the Syrian air force, dropping bombs not just on ISIS
but on anti-Assad rebels who may or may not be aligned with the United
States or its regional allies."

See:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...-in-syria.html

So, what happens if the Russians start bombing U.S.-trained rebels in
Syria?

They close an eye. War on numbers.

Update:

These photos suggest Russian Air Force jets and drones are
already operating against ISIS in Syria:

"Pictures allegedly shot over Idlib and posted on Twitter seem to suggest
Sukhoi Su-27 (or derivative) Flanker, Mig-29 Fulcrum, Su-34 Fullback
jets and Pchela-1T drone are operating in Syria."

ISIS must have gone too close to the Russian naval base.

The reported spot seems too far away from Tartus, though.

If there really is Su-34, then it's clear that Russia can't just sit and do nothing while ISIS is infesting and ravaging many part of the Middle East, which some of them are its clients. As well as also to deal with the Caucasus Emirate's alleged collaboration with ISIS.

Should Kuznetsov turn back?

Iran’s Drone War in Syria:

"Iran has been providing Syria’s regime with drones—some of them
inspired by American technology—and they’re already playing a
significant role in keeping Bashar Assad in power."

CIA, US Special Ops Launch Drone Campaign In Syria:

"The CIA and US special operations forces are carrying out a secret
campaign using armed drones to target and kill Islamic State leaders in
Syria, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The clandestine program is separate from America’s wider military
operations against IS fighters, the newspaper reported, citing unnamed
US officials."

France Might Soon Begin Airstrikes On ISIS In Syria: Report:

"The French government is mulling airstrikes against the Islamic State
group in Syria, France’s Le Monde newspaper reported Saturday, citing
a “high-level” source. France is already a part of the anti-ISIS coalition
that has been bombing the militant group’s strongholds in northern
Iraq since August last year."

Since there's no thread about the refugee crisis, I thought I would drop this article here:

Muslim countries refuse to take a single Syrian refugee, cite risk of exposure to terrorism

And here's the graphic that says it all:

Bloody pathetic. Those nouveau riche governments in the Gulf area are talking shit and should be nailed for their lack of moral responsibility. Don't they see that European countries are taking the same risk and yet know how to do it well?

An Egyptian billionaire wants to buy an island for them:

Quote:

"This week, Egyptian telecom billionaire Naguib Sawiris announced an
audacious plan for the world's refugee crisis. If Greece or Italy would
allow him to buy an island, Sawiris explained on Twitter, he would use
it to house refugees. Sawiris, whose net worth is said to be about $3
billion, suggested that the island would serve as a "new country" for
migrants."

Saturday said Europe's migration crisis had to be tackled at its source
and a newspaper said a parliamentary vote on bombing Islamic State
militants in Syria could take place next month."

I always get the feeling if Muhammad was alive today he be sadden by the state of modern Islam. He put so much effort into turning the Middle East into a forward thinking, well order and compassionate place... heck some of his greatest followers started out as liberated slaves.

Now we get backward barbarians trying to one up the history book with there savagery and rich nations with no sense of charity.

Russia sending advanced air defenses to Syria: sources:

"Moscow is sending an advanced anti-aircraft missile system to Syria,
two Western officials and a Russian source said, as part of what the
West believes is stepped-up military support for embattled President
Bashar al-Assad.

The Western officials said the SA-22 system would be operated by
Russian troops, rather than Syrians. The system was on its way to
Syria but had not yet arrived.

"This system is the advanced version used by Russia and it's meant to
be operated by Russians in Syria," said one of the sources, a Western
diplomat who is regularly briefed on U.S., Israeli and other intelligence
assessments."

See:

=============================

This will definitely complicate Allied efforts to provide air support to
pro-western Syrian rebels.

It gets even more dicey if the Israelis launch more air raids into Syria,
either to stop weapons from being transferred to Hezbollah, or to keep
ISIS and/or Al-Qaeda away from their borders.

If they want to keep the Israelis from coming into the war I think Russia better lease those AADs rather than selling them.

"US-backed rebels in the so-called “New Syrian Forces” (NSF) have turned over at least some of
their equipment and ammunition to a “suspected” intermediary for Al Nusrah Front, US Central
Command (CENTCOM) conceded in a statement released late yesterday. The coalition-provided
supplies were given by the rebels to Al Nusrah, an official branch of al Qaeda, in exchange for “safe
