edit: Oop! Nope looks like I was wrong about the guitar itself and not the model name. It looked like a jaguar at first. I see on FREEZE FRAME analysis it is a mustang..... gots to look closer.

The differences are clear if you compare the switches of both models, the Mustang has the 2 switches and the Jaguar has a lot more

So this is a 13 episode series, right? Hmmm...

A very interesting episode. First thing that stuck out was the way they shoehorned Azusa into the OP. Maybe it's just the quality of the raw but Azusa in the OP = obvious shop is ooooobvious. She isn't there for most of it, anyways - not enough stock footage, I suppose. She doesn't appear in the ED at all, so no comment about that.

As for the rest of the episode.

Spoiler:

- Azunyan = great with her fingers. I'd let her strum my guitar, if you known what I mean.
- Looks like Yui's got a little competition. By competition, I mean she has been bumped down a notch.
- Lol'd hard at Sawako's reaction.
- Azunyan said what was on all of our minds. Search your feelings, you know it to be true
- Yui, for some strange reason seems to have a handle on Azusa. Not being on the bottom of the ladder has this effect on people, I guess.
- That one bass track in the show really does sound like it fits in a porno. Brb, fapping to Yui feeding Azusa.
- I'll have to agree, the new kid is adorable AND we get to see her at her breaking point. That kinda stuff gets me off.
- Nekomimi mode. It's... nekomimi mode.
- See, the first time I joined the Kendo club I wasn't expecting us to hang out like that outside of the usual, so it was a real shock to me. I can relate to Azusa's first impression. But really, this is what High School life is all about.
- Episode took a bizarre change in tone in the latter half of the episode.
- In the end Mio, despite the tendency to be the butt of the joke, imparts what it truly means to be in a band.
-It's just until the lead guitarist has a spat with the drummer and the keyboardist gets started on a downward spiral with drug addiction will they really know what it means to be in a band.

tl;dr Bit of a change in pace, but a welcome one. Next episode looks like it's summer again. At this rate, they will graduate by the last episode, which will dash all hopes of a second season. Keikaku doori?

Azu-nyan kawaii~

The club has adopted a new kitty. Good thing Mio is there as the voice of reason, or Azu-nyan might really bolt off to another band.

Or maybe not, as she just feels compelled to come back. Much like how Kyon always ends up in the SOS room despite always complaining about Haruhi.

She's climbing real fast in my favourite K-On girls, and it is just as Mio's "thoughts" (as narrated by Ritsu lol ) described that Azu-nyan may be taking away attention from Mio.

Yeah, right. Mio will ALWAYS be No. 1!!!111

Azu-nyan is a mix between Mio and Fuuko from Clannad, her serious demeanor easily pacified by cute hugs and sweets.

Did I just see Brian May of Queen when Azu-nyan first plays the guitar on Yui's request?

Mugi is more laid back than I originally thought. xD
Just lol at how she's oggling at Yui feeding Azu-nyan cake at 8:00 like the yuri fangirl that she is.

No comment about Azu-nyan being shoehorned into the OP, but it's a first time that Kyo-Ani has departed from its usual way of being completely anal about changing OPs and EDs. (Just look at the complaints regarding certain episodes of Clannad After Story where the mood is completely destroyed by the lively ED. )

So? Damned if they do (K-On) and damned if they don't (Clannad), is it? You should at least give them credit for even trying, no matter how lame the attempt was.

It was pretty obvious from the start that they intended to put Azusa in the OP eventually. There was a noticeable gap between Mio and Ritsu whenever you saw the whole band playing.

I think after watching it a few more times, seeing Azusa in there will become a non-issue. Well, except at the end shot. She seems crammed in there, even taking into account her small size.

I'm gonna miss the "stair jump" sequence, though.

I just watched Coalguys' release. This show continues to be great. Aside from less stellar animation issues, I've not been disappointed. However, ever since episode 5, I've switched from being a fan of Mio to one of Sawa-chan. That chick is quirky awesome and just my type.

The new +Asu-nyaa opening reminds me of that episode of Clannad when they forgot about Fuko-chan and there was this little spot between them the whole episode until they remembered her and *poof* there she was.

By the way I see it, their 2nd cultural festival will be the last episode.

Talking about Clannad, it seems that they are imitating 2 things about it...

1. Azunyan has her own bubbles mode when hugged.

2. We get to see the "good girl" cuddle again!

They should have renamed the title to "The Corruption of Azu-nyan: The Twintails"

Also, they sure do like to impress the fact that Yui's self-taught, learns by listening and doesn't know proper music terminology. A lot of great guitarists didn't have a proper musical "education" but are still excellent guitarists none the less. I had to teach myself how to sing during time's when I didn't have a voice coach, and I can't even read musical notation properly.

I think the first one is Brian May from Queen, but I'm not 100% sure.
