I'll probably keep my expectations that Otome while alluding an ever-present influence to Strawberry Panic it will follow a parallel direction to Ouran High School Host Club.

It's fairly recent, I think.

The story is about Mizuho Miyanokouji who, according to the will of a deceased grandfather, must attend an all-girl school. The catch is, Mizuho is a GUY. Luckily for him, he's got a good childhood friend and a teacher to look out (as well as play dress up) for and keep him out of trouble. At first, he feels akward, thinking he'll get caught, but somehow isn't (this is an anime, so naturally he's very beautiful), but is actually crowded around because of how pretty he is. In fact, he becomes so popular that one of the student council begin snooping around to check out his background. I can't really tell you much w/out spoiling the episode. ^^;;

Anyways, I know this plot is extremely old, and before anyone else can say it, very much like I My Me Strawberry Eggs!. This isn't necassarily shoujo ai, but pretty borderline. Again.. much like I My Me. I really liked the artwork since it was SO pretty. I think I'll watch a few more to see if I like it. =D It'll be interesting to see how he blends in and stays out of trouble. Kind of like Ouran but reversed>D

They said that they're done with the translation but it will take a moment because the RAW quality they got is rather bad. So that's why they're taking longer for it to release.

Cute series. Entertaining, too. I like it better than I liked Kashimashi; they're not wasting time on random alien plots, and as of yet they haven't wasted a lot of time on angsty interpersonal conflicts, either.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

The main character's personality definitely interests me. He's not just the usual type of anime guy who blushes and freaks out when he's confronted with the ecchi, he acts more reserved, and I don't think it's because he's feminine so much as because... well, he just comes off more mature to me.

Someone who will blush but won't lose their cool in the situation is either timid to the point of frailty or unconventionally mature (that is, mature in an unassertive way), but judging from his overall demeanor and also the situation in the flashback where he stood up in alarm at the idea of attending the school, I'd lean less toward the former and more toward the latter.

Ha, I'm sure people think that I'm just overanalyzing what's somewhat of a fluff anime, but I definitely think I'll download the next episode and see if it can stay this mature while avoiding cliches which are annoying.

Just watched the first episode and I agree wholeheartedly with you. Definetly going to keep an eye on this show.

Finally saw the sub and I got say it's quite good for a first episode

Saw the first subbed episode and I like it. I always did like these cross gender/drag queen animes because the ones I've seen in the past always ended up being so funny...except for Kashimashi. The animation is done by the people who made Da Capo so that's cool since I like Misato Mutsumi's artwork. It also looks like the entire seiyu team from Da Capo is in this anime too. I look forward to seeing how this anime will work out.

First episode was good, a lot better than I expected, only thing that I didn't like was ugly chibi characters. I guess I will be skipping ending animation...

But the episode itself was very entertaining, especially second half.

They're more chubby-fied rather than chibi-fied no? It was pretty funny when they turn little bubbles all of a sudden. Well, girls are falling head-over-heels over "her". Makes you wonder how in the world Mizuho was raised when he was still little. And isn't Mizuho a girl's name?

omg i dnt know wht to say...on the plus side i really like mizuho's apprearence but on the down side she's a guy!
wht a twisted request from his grandfather...it think hes having a laugh right until the very end lol
i really have to praise mizuho on not getting high...especially near the end...omg i would have nose bleed myself to death

Well, the first episode pretty much wrapped everything together of what i love to see. :3

First episode did a good job with introducing the characters.. and a brilliant bunch they are. I'm already have a hard time choosing some of my fav's, though most my love at the moment has to go to Mizuho. ^^;;

My main love for the show has to be Kosakabe Naoko art style. I loved every second of DCSS's animation, so i'm happy that its returned with such a good show to go along with it. I'm sure Louis that you'll know the music sounds pretty familar - Isoe Toshimichi, same composer from Kasimasi. :3

I just wish it was at least 24/26 episodes, this is a show i know already could last that long. Ah well, it'll be fun~

Yeah, this is a definite win for me, I loved the first episode--Horie Yui was good as usual, Asano Masumi as Mariya was awesome, and since I loved DCSS's character designs the animation is a plus for me too. It's too bad it's not longer--I'm rooting for Mariya to "win" although as short as it is maybe they'll leave things open-ended.
