I fail to see how you didn't pick up on the fact that Aqua = Mars... unless the particular subs you watched didn't explain/ translate very well (or you just weren't paying attention at a crucial point in time, something I'm sometimes guilty of myself

Actually, I and my kawaii kohai have already done ARIA cosplay last year (yes! and that was our first cosplay!) It was a bit lonely though, only two undines walked around the fair where there were DOZENS of Bleach's uniform. So we are planning to have atleast three or four undine with us this year^^ White magic~

Anyway, you know the rules right? PLEASE DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE THIS PHOTO, even by personal sharing like e-mails, burning CDS or sending via anything. I do not want to be impolite, BUT I WILL FOREVER HAUNT YOUR DREAMS IF YOU DO THAT.

I dressed up as the white undine appeared in the first chapter of vol.1. The oar was self-customed based on an ARIA company's oar since I don't know how it is actually looks like ^^
Remark that : I'm NOT cute nor lend any sort of beauty. Some of you might find the image disturbing, take your own risk ^-^

Nice! I'd love to see some cosplayers around my little area (small town in the UK, so pretty much 0% chance of cosplay

). Only thing I'd suggest is sewing a little colour in here and there (blue for Aria, red for Himeya etc..). Otherwise it looks top notch

Side note/ question: Kohai is the opposite of Senpai isn't it? Like, junior rather than senior? IIRC.

Yes (but the proper romanization is kouhai; 後輩＝こうはい). And bonus points to you for writing it "senpai" instead of "sempai" which seems to be the trendy thing for people to do.

Nice cosplay image! But where are the company color marking designs on the uniform? And the gloves? (Those are my favorite parts, to be honest... and the hats)

Well, that white undine in the 1st navigation dressed up that way so it can't be helped I guess^^ili (she was also a Prima, therefore no gloves) I really love her plain white uniform and black stockings, they just fit my monochrome craze~ My kawaii kouhai dressed up in ARIA uniform though. Let see if she'll allow me to post her picture here ^w^

I cosplayed a Victorian gentleman for Emma at the last AX. I'd sure like to do one for Aria, but the only male character of note is Akatsuki, and I would probably look silly trying to dress like him at my age.

Maybe I could be his brother.

The only problem there would be that 95% of the fans at a show would say "Aria? Whassat?

" and the other 5% would say "Akatsuki's brother?

Gawd that's lame."

As for the polar ice caps, that's the explanation I remember reading from the manga. They never get into the technical specifics of how Mars was terraformed, since it's really not what the story focuses on.

Hmm, k, some short and sweet speculation on season 2. Bearing in mind I haven't read the manga, so this is purely my own speculation (and a large degree of what I'm hoping for).

First thing I want to see is Alice made into a Single. She could use more work on her people skills, but that seems to be more the Single territory, as we can see from Akari and Aika practicing. Alice is the dog's danglies at rowing technique already, so she should most certainly be promoted to Single next season.

Ai chan needs to join the series fulltime! It's nice hearing Akari's thoughts at the beginning and end of the eps in her emails to Ai, but I'd also like to see Ai move to Aqua and become a Pair. She'd then replace Alice as the Pair of the series who would get help from the three others. That'd be nice. Here's a nice pic of (I think it's meant to be) Ai in a uniform for another company other than the three we so far know:

A little more background on the 3 water fairies would be great next season too. I want to see more of Athena's antics

Other than these specifics though, I'm really hoping for more of the same, and that's weird because normally I'd want something really new and exiting for a second season. Aria is just so slow-going and relaxed that I could happily watch 26 episodes back to back and never be bored by it's gentle and fun nature.

I've got a load of pics to post soon too, just gotta get round to uploading them all

I'll probably always view ARIA a bit as a YKK-lite, even though it's pretty obvious that their respective stories were propagated differently. I still think the best thing about this series was the stunningly gorgeous city it was set in. The cute girls and their cute adventures were nice as well.

Anime needs more series like ARIA. So can't wait for the second season.

But yes, Spoiler: Aqua is a terraformed Mars. The changes are obvious: they flooded it. Speculation is that the flooding wasn't intentional, but accidental. Given things like the flooded community found in episode... four? it certainly seems plausible. __________________
