First part of the war is definitely boring. Things get interesting again later on, but it might take a while to get there.

I'm confused.

Hanzo defeated Orochimaru, Tusnade and Jiraiya at the same time.

And yet he lost so easily. I guess the story goes that he let his skills deminish.

It was a quick draw battle, like a gun duel in the wild west. Mifune is as quick with his sword as Itachi was with his hands probably.

This was a very good episode. One of the best so far.

The stories of these side characters also explain how broken the ninja world is, Hanzou as many others started out as a good guy but then the ninja world corrupted him. So that we know better what Naruto set out to change.

Still fighting the dead shinobi.
Things are not going too bad.
They are still struggling.
It's no wonder considering the undead shinobi are really strong.
Guess they're not over the fact they have to face/fight the people they loved/admired.
Flashback to the days Asuma sensei was nice.

Asuma vs Choji.
That fight was really hard for him.
He couldn't have made it without Ino and Shikamaru.
Flashbacks to Choji's childhood training days were nice.
I'm glad he finally managed to find his inner strength.
No Naruto at all in these past 2 episodes.
Guess they're saving him for the main fights.

It's a combination of giving some of the side characters the spotlight, fleshing out the world and how it works, but also, because Naruto is a game breaker and none of these enemies would last more than a few minutes against him. The guy single-handedly defeated Pain, for crying out loud, and that was before he obtained Chakra Mode. Not to mention it's boring if Naruto steals the spotlight all the time.

Ino-Ska-Cho! Good episode helping Cho develop his abilities even further and grow as a person. I really wonder what ninjitsu hes going to use with what looks like repeated red pill powers.

As for naruto its looking like hes finally gained enough suspicion to want to break out and find out whats going on. I dont think anyone could stop him if he really wanted out but I doubt he would take out everyone to do so.

This. Pain WTFPWNED the entire village until naruto came. This makes the build up to a Naruto/Sasuke fight so intense. Both are hax ninja's with legendary status and ties to the first ninja ever. Ganna be crazy.

Well, it was about time he found out what was going on in the world.
It was to be expected he'd be angry...
Flashbacks to the past were nice and nostalgic.
Seems like Naruto has become even stronger.

And there you have it. You can NOT stop Naruto. Even if he can't break through by himself, he'll just use Talk No Jutsu to get someone to help him.

They've already been friends for days/weeks though (not sure how much time passed).
Fist Bump no Jutsu is just another application of Talk no Jutsu.

Things are starting to heat up. With the gedo statue on the loose full of jinchuriki chakra, the poor shinobi allied forces didnt stand a chance. Major players are making their moves, yet sasuke has yet to see some screen time. The more I look at the situation the more I wonder whats going to happen, things are escalating so much it seems like only the sage of the 6 paths could calm down all this mess.

I don't think it's very interesting to see 30 minutes of Sasuke recovering from his operation.

By the way, about the next ep preview? Is it filler or does it actually happen in the manga at this point? It feels kind of out of place. I don't remember reading it. Not in this part of the story anyways.

The scene from the preview with Shikamaru/Choji and Naruto/Sasuke is canon. As are the other parts of the episode as well. There is also a scene not shown in this preview, with young Naruto vs Sasuke. The young Naruto vs Sasuke scene was already used once for the episode in the past (I think it was episode 255). I posted then that that scene was canon, even trough it happened in a filler episode.

Loved the episode btv!

Next episode is 100% canon.
Apparently we will have some war filler starting with episode 279 (airs on September 13).
