Looking for an anime that would freak me out.

I want a(serious) animation, perferably unliscensed, that is, excuse my french, a total mind fuck. Something that is enough to make you think, but freaky enough to make you not sure you want to.

Ditto on that, but I'd also recommend The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. the later story is much less disturbing, but still in the general category.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is the story of a brutual psychopathic murder. It is also the story of an ordinary boy in an ordinary town. The problem is that these two stories overlap and intermingle in uncomforable and disturbing ways.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is an experience into the mind of Haruhi Suzumiya, who on the first day of school introduces herself in school, “I’m not interested in ordinary people. If you came from outer space, or from the future, or you have a supernatural power, come talk to me.” Unfortunately she is surrounded by or encourages the existence of such things without having any idea. Each episode is an encounter with things you may not understand.

Evangelion Granted there is a 98% chances you already saw it, but as far as disturbing mindfuck is concerned, I can't see anything taking its throne anytime soon.
If you also like manga, take a look at the one-shot "Semi-eternal Happy end" (scanlated by Ushi, thought i'd be surprised this group still exist). It's short, brilliant, and definitely freakish.

Elfen Lied, the violence and gore is very disturbing.
Tokko, it's somewhat disturbing, but not as violent as Elfen Lied.

Well, I havn't seen Eva yet, but I might be borrowing it from a friend soon.
I'm downloading Higurashi(insert rest of title here), and I'll download Melancholy after that.

Third push for Higurashi no Naku Koroni. Be sure to check out the threads for that show if it catches with you.

Monster... a mystery psychological thriller, I would not go so far as to place in the horror category, but surely those who've seen it will agree to the utter quality of this show.

Top five in my list of 100+.

Narutaru aka Shadow Star, even though it's totally inferior to manga original.
Can't think of much else...maybe End Of Evangelion.

I don't get some people. Who wants to watch a show that starts out with two poor kawaii little girls getting beaten to death?

Now if it was a couple gaki shounen... have at 'em.

Oh man, Higurashi is creepy. A fifth from me!

Licensed:
-Gantz (the gore..)
-Boogiepop Phantom (like Paranoia Agent, psychological)
-Berserk (the last episode @.@)
-Perfect Blue (some scenes are disturbing)

Unlicensed:
-Ayakashi (Oh heck the last arc (episodes 9-11) is awesome. I wouldn't recommend the first two stories though, but I guess they are pretty weird too).
-Hundred Stories (which is like Ayakashi)
