I've read this up to around 1,800 chapters. The reason I stopped reading is because there were only about a hundred chapters left and an arc usually takes about 200 chapters to finish. I was at a point where I was content to stop. These information is just off the top of my head.

Jiang Chen is overpowered. He's the son of a Heavenly Emperor. Not only was he an incredible alchemist in his past life, even by Heaven's standard, he's trained hundreds of genius over his lifetime and have basically accumulated every top level cultivation method and martial skills that have ever existed, up until his death. But what's even more overpowered is revealed later on. He has the power of fate on his side.

Basically, I think fate will manipulate events to move him where he needs to go, and whenever this happens, he always ends up with a power-up or encountering a great opportunity.

I mentioned Jiang Chen was an alchemist. Yeah, he makes a lot of pills that only Heaven has. To him, most of it is trash but because he's not in Heaven anymore, he is forced to work with what he got. To the rest of the world though, they're miracle pills. No matter where he is, what land, they are all miracle pills, new wonders of the world. They range from restoring youth, to increasing longevity, and even helping cultivators promote one level without any side-effects. Basically, everyone wants them and they will absolutely kill for them.

Spoiler for Spoilers about the land:

The land that Jiang Chen is in is later revealed to have an incredible history. Basically, the standard used to be a lot higher and cultivators used to be a lot more powerful, with a lot of powerful skills and treasures lost after a bloody war against the demons. Think of the aftermath as nuclear fallout. Everybody was affected by the land's decline and the lack of powerful resources to help them promote to the next level. The most powerful treasures will fall into his hands, one by one, and some of the lost skills too, though he doesn't have any need for low level skills and tend to give them out as a way to try to get the land back to where it was in its prime.

Fortunately, Jiang Chen would take over one of the strongest factions in the continent, transform it into the most powerful faction by far, and basically unite the everybody under his control. And just in time too.

Spoiler for Harem?:

Is it harem? Uh, yes. But the romance doesn't really get going until much later. Where I am, there are a lot of potential love interest, but Jiang Chen has only really two lovers so far, and he's only done it with one of them.

Spoiler for Ranking System:

Okay... It's been a while. I can't remember the early levels, cause it's been two thousands chapters, but the later levels goes like this(so far):

Basic 13 Veins? - ??? - ??? - ??? - Saint - King - Emperor - Sky - God

I might have miss one or two steps in the first half. Would be nice if someone were to fill in the earlier levels for me.

For most part, each promotion is divided into nine levels. These nine levels are further separated into three divisions.

Level 1 to Level 3 = Minor
Level 4 to Level 6 = Middle
Level 7 to Level 9 = Top

Each division is a lot more powerful than the one before. So Level 4 can crush a Level 3 even though there's only one level of difference.

Things get a bit more complicated with Emperors and Sky, but you wouldn't have to worry about that for a while.

If someone reach the absolute pinnacle of a stage and is close to promotion to the next stage, they will be called Half-Steps. Say if a King Level 9 is almost promoted to Emperor status, they will be called half-step Emperor. Don't underestimate this half-step, a half-step God (aka demigod) can effortlessly crush three level 9 Sky practicers.

Spoiler for Personal Thoughts:

I read this story a while back, it's pretty nice. Love Jiang Chen's character. It just need needs a bit of editing to cut away the excess fat. The author likes to describe every battle that happens, whether it be minor or not. Lots of expositions. Also, I swear, if Jiang Chen mentions one more time that he's the son of a Heavenly Emperor and there is nothing that can stump him, I'll strangle him dead.

Spoiler for Major Frustrations:

Don't get attached to any characters. No, no, this is not Game of Thrones, but after a while, they will disappear from the story and stay around as backdrops at most. They'll be lucky if they are mentioned in a sentence. This story is nearly 100% about Jiang Chen. So far, the only exception seems to be Huang-er and the animal companions who follow him. Which is a pity because there are A LOT of characters who deserves more screen time.

I am still waiting for Jiang Chen to finally... FINALLY seal the deal with the girls who loyally followed him all the way from the Eastern Kingdom. Come on! You accepted Dan Fei! The monogamy route is over and done with!

This is also where I think the author fails too. There is too much focus on cultivation and battles. He ignores all the characters who were previously a major part of his life. Jiang Chen's retreat (aka secluded cultivation) will last for months, even years at a time, but when he comes out, maybe there will be a sentence or two about them before he leaves for the next arc.

So basically, Jiang Chen is the only one who's carrying the story for me. Huang-er technically counts too, but I think she's a boring character.

I'm actually reading as I translate, so I refrained from clicking on the spoilers as well. What's really catching my eye is the sheer amount of banter and smack in it. The last sponsored chapter I released was all about "idiotic women" and "lecher".

The story is a bit dark, but that's a given since the world is based on Ancient China. There are deaths and massacres happening all around him, but so far, nobody important dies. Jiang Chen's family and friends are all alive and well. There are several close calls, but Jiang Chen always saves them in the end. However, while Jiang Chen doesn't always save the day for everyone else, he will always make his enemies pay for their misdeeds sooner or later.

As for Jiang Chen himself, he's a good person overall and won't kill indiscriminately. He's the son of a Heavenly Emperor. He is very pragmatic and has little to no bloodlust. He's not the type to set out and stir up trouble for himself. It's always the other way around, but the moment a character goes too far and try to seriously harm him or (more importantly) someone he cares about, then the gloves are off. If Jiang Chen decides that someone must die, he will kill them, no matter who they are or what factions they have backing them up. He won't change his mind. He will remove them, root and all. Fortunately, even when he goes on a rampage, he limits his anger on his real enemies. Innocents and civilians are spared. Soldiers, on the other hand, are free game unless they surrender.

However, there is always a sense of dread hanging over the story.

That's not to mention all the other factions that's poking at their borders. He's not afraid of human threats, but the demons are something else entirely. Jiang Chen is trying desperately to increase the war potential of the land before the shit hits the fan. Otherwise, things will be completely hopeless once the invasion really begins.

I don't think what Jiang Chen feels for her can be called love, it's more like responsibility. Since this is Xianxia and all, I bet you guys can already guess what happened. She's the first girl that Jiang Chen slept with and she's his first wife.

Jiang Chen doesn't show much of an interest towards them, but it's actually Huang-er who say that she wants Jiang Chen to take the other girls as wives cause she's like friends with most of them and Jiang Chen is supposedly destined for great things and needs their support or whatever. I hate Dan Fei. I just really hate how it's her damn fault that things developped that way, and Jiang Chen is ridden with guilt and responsibility to her when it's not really his, but her own fault. I wish she'd disappear from the story after that.

She might not force herself on him, but since he's done it with her, so... Damn the aphrodiasics! I haven't read it that long yet, I just hope she won't get pregnant!!!

Most women were introduced as first class beauties who took interest in Jiang Chen's talents, and awe at how Jiang Chen is not like any other guys who want to win their favor. And being a gentleman Jiang Chen is, he can't just tell them to f*** off and get out of his sight.

Damn this novel is bad maybe the worst this autor wrote of the 3 i saw.

First the whole Long Juxue story was so full of shit she and her father were going to march to kill the Jian Family and when thing got bad for her the purple sect show up and save her in the nick of time and after that a bunch of assholes try to kill the MC.

Now i undestand we need new villains but why they have to show up in the last second and even use a magic attack to stop a arrow close to Juxue head and even worst they decide to kill and rape the MC family...

Also the MC controls a army of birds can these people even fly in the sky? Even if they can i don`t think they can match a bird yet so why don`t the MC just fly away... I think the autor forgot that little problem lol.

Bottom line is this novel is pretty bad the MC is a disapointment that keeps telling us how awesome he was in his previous life but a bunch of kiddos can totally kill him right now. If i were him i would just take the princess and father and go to a safe location and send the army of birds to kill that Duke and his bich daughter while i use my knowlege to reach spirit level but no that would be too easy.

MC doesn`t act like a person that live millions of years and treats his life as his previous he is just asking to be beat to death.

Okay, the story has finally ended. I really can't recommend this for anyone.

There are a lot of very real problems with this story. The author is really detailed, overzealous with it even. While this may make the story very hard to read, it also flesh out a lot of the characters and make it easy to become invested in their story. Unfortunately, the author apparently doesn't feel the same way because once a character has fulfill their purpose, they essentially all become backdrops and barely gets any mention at all even if they were really important in the earlier chapters.

Then there is the romance. I absolutely hate it. Okay, this is a web novel. No one expects Casablanca. But, when you have so many wonderful and colorful women in Jiang Chen's life, the author instead decide to ignore them all in favor of the most boring piece of brick in the story. Of course, I am talking about Huang-Er cause a blunk of the story is related to her in some way. I thought that her story will finally become exciting when her other grandfather makes his appearance, but nope! That story is resolved within 10 chapters.

As for Dan-Fei, I actually quite liked her character originally. I'm somewhat happy that she "won", but after the author butchered her story and have her run away for stupid reasons, then essentially play hide and seek with Jiang Chen for 300+ chapters (Give or take a couple hundred chapters), I didn't care about her anymore. Like, after she ran away she doesn't have any more purpose except being the mother of his barely mentioned daughter and, by the time Jiang Chen found her, the damsel in distress.

Her story just goes nowhere. Dan-Fei is adopted (again) and becomes a powerful princess, but so what? How does that contribute to the story at all except to tease the fact that she's very near Jiang Chen and could meet him again anyday, but neither one knows about it? Even after they FINALLY got together, she loses all of her personality and is only mentioned occasionally while the story focuses back to Huang-Er again.

But hey, at least her treatment is better than the other girls who are in love with Jiang Chen. Just eternal limbo for them, no development whatsoever. Barely ever a mention in the story save that they are still around. No, can't have anyone outshine precious Huang-Er, that piece of brick, cause she's the most beautiful in the story and very kind hearted! But we can't have any girls leave Jiang Chen for someone else cause the readers will bloody riot! So the author just tease us with the prospect of a resolution until the very end.

If the author had respected his characters and gave us a satisfying ending, I would rate this a 3.5/5. Not for everyone, but I would recommend it all the same.

As it is, I instead give this a 1/5, the second worst web novel I've ever read. To describe this story... 2,000+ chapters of cocktease with no climax. I wish I had all that time I've invested in this story back. I will never pick of anything by this author ever again.

WoW that bad huh thats the problem with a Xianxia with no harem the autor can`t give them to another man but can`t make the MC grow a bonner and do it either.

But the worst part the princess of his kingdom isn`t part of the harem when she already said she would give herself to him if he defeated Long family... how gay is that a hot woman wants you and you say no! Fuck you Chen is this ISSTH now he doesn`t even have other woman.

Seriously, she actually ran away and has a child with the MC? There's nothing I hate more than the MC somehow has a child early before the end of the story but somehow the child is absent for most of the story. I also dislike Dan Fei personally and I pity every other girls in love with Jiang Chen for not even having a chance. Jiang Chen instead took Huang-Er, the most boring girl imo, because of her so called unique "temperament" that I have no idea how it truly is. Can't he just have a harem?
This author is so terrible at romance on the same level as Er Gen.
