i second One Outs its a baseball anime but its about mind games and psychological
i heard Akagi and Kaiji are good too they are both about gambling

I've seen Kaiji - liked it a lot. Seen a little bit of Monster and Rainbow but really, lately I havent watched much anime. Nothing really does it for me like Death Note and Code Geass did. Though some mentioned here (Phantom, Kaiji) were quite close.

It's been said before, but i'll have to stress Monster. It's just plain good. Runs kinda long ,though.

I just finished watching code geass, rewatched it from the beginning since i stopped around episode 7 of R2 about half a year ago
also already watched death note 2 times in Eng Dubbed and once in Eng Subbed=P haha

Loved both of them, and googled some of the mentioned names,
Not to be rude but, i don't think it'll do, i mean...
after watching these two animes, i don't think anything could ever top that.

i know exactly what some of you mean with the "guessing what will happen next", never saw a anime that made me sit on the edge of my seat like these did.
I have also watched some other great animes like Naruto, Fairytail or Bleach, but that is Totally Different ! None of them have the strategic killing DN and CG have!

after Death Note, i doubted it would be beaten, but now that i finished CG,
In my opinion Code Geass is way better, especially the ultimate goal of Lelouch.

hope to find one that's the same.

You are basically me. Now I'm no expert but I haven't been able to find something that topped CG for me.

Sorry but it is hard to take you seriously when you are comparing a standard shounen Naruto, Bleach and Fairly Tail to something like CG and DN.

I mean really? I like FT and Naruto to extend but comparing them to CG or DN is the same as comparing black to white.

You want strategy, surprise and excitement?
Then watch:
Berserk
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom
Monster
Ga-Rei Zero
Ghost Hunt
GTO - amazing comedy
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
Steins;Gate

Now those are shows that I could compare to DN and CG to an extend. Standard shounen that you named is a laughable joke.
If you are into anti-MC then Ga-Rei and Phantom are a nice choices.

Code Geass is the closest thing to Death Note. (Code Geass is a tad better)

Try shakugan shana III, has a great bad guy in that, warning theres 2 seasons before it that youll have to tough out lol

Code geass and death note huh..if i seen them at the same time i might say death note was better...but after

the series went to shit they should of ended it there, Code geass ending though was beautiful...no other word for it
