Tsunade's genins?

I was thinking about Tsunade's strength, and I realized that the manga never showed her with a genin team. Did she leave Konoha before being assigned to a genin team? Even Oro had one genin. If she left before being assigned to a genin team, and she is considered one of the Sannin, then could she have become ridiculously strong while still in her teen years (like Itachi)? I'd just like to know you guys' thoughts on this

lol, oro, jiraiya and TSUNADE were all in the same genin team taught by the 3RD. They are called the legendary sannins because they are the three great students of the third, which were taught at the same time (same genini team).

He means Tsunade's own genin team. As in, the one she's the jounin of. Duh.

I'm pretty sure she had a genin team, we just don't know about it yet. Tsunade stayed at least until her brother and beau died. She probably stayed for many years after, which would put her into her twenties at least.

It could be a possibility however that medical ninjas are never responsible for a genin team and operate somewhat differently in how they train apprentices.

Genei Killua, that actually makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. Medical nins-to-be would need to learn medical jutsus, so they were probably put on teams with leaders that were medics. Thanks for the input!

But that might not necessarily be true. Many ninja would most probably learn their medical jutsus and theory in the Ninja Academy. A Jounin leader would be for practical field training, and then it's no good if all four members of a team specialize in the same skills. Tsunade's ideal team concept involved three regular ninja (each with their own unique set of skills) and a medical specialist, not a team of four medical specialists (and medical ninjutsu is like a variant Jounin-level thing... it's one of the specialized Jounin levels... ie. ANBU).

Then, there can be the assumption that Tsunade possibly never even had a genin team of her own. After all, Kakashi spent years failing groups of genins before he had Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, so perhaps Tsunade did as well.

Tsunade's team concept applied only to battle squads.

Not all Jounins have to train any Genins.

well I forgot the girl's name but there is a female shinobi that always sticks to Tsunade. Seeing as how she is a medical nin as well, i think that Tsunade might have taken her under her wing just as how Jiraya took Naruto.

Yeah Shizune is Tsunade's apprentice, but I always figured that Tsunade met her some place outside of Konoha and decided to train her. I may be wrong in thinking that though.

Shizune is related to Tsunade's deceased ex. She probably tags along with her as some sort of familial obligation more so than apprenticeship. She's more like Tsunade's guardian, just as Kabuto is Orochimaru's guardian.

I think shizune is from konoha cause she know's about naruto and his fox powers. It seems all konaha adults know about him. I bet the reason she wasn't shown when oro and jiraiya were shown with their genins because they wanted to keep her adult form a secret until it was revealed that she actually looked like her mid-20 year-old self.

It's already been explained. Shizune is one of Dan's relatives. If I'm not mistaken, she's Dan's niece.

For those who don't feel like clicking on the link, here's the vital part of that post:

"シズネ said Ojiue (叔父上 or 伯父上) about the second person. Ojiue is a word for your parents' brother. That means, Shizune is related to the long-silver hair guy in the flashback (I know who he is but I won’t say it here). That kind of make sense if Shizune wanted to be close to Tsunade."

The site pretty much points out things that people who aren't from Japan probably wouldn't notice.

Other than 'because Orochi and Jiraiya had genins', why should it matter this much?

fieryshadowcard, no one ever said it mattered so much; I just wanted people's opinions on the issue. You don't have to get all snappy about it. In the flashbacks it showed Jiraya and Oro with genins and not Tsunade, and someone already said that it was probably b/c they were still hiding Tsunade's adult character at the time, which I had not considered. If you don't think Tsunade had genins at all, then all you have to say is "I think she never had genins".

Yes. Oro had Anko while he was still with Konoha. It was shown in the flashbacks during the Sandaime/Oro fight when all the other jounins and genins were shown together so I figured it was probably legit. Well as legit as Oro can get anyway

Rurouni Zeke, that's a good question. I wonder if she did have any genins. It's true that all jounin do not have to have genin, but the fact that two out of three of the legendary three have had genin, one can only assume that it may be the case. It wouldn't surpise me if Shizune is/was her student. Someone made the great point about her not having genin because she was important medical ninja that probably had to be on a lot of missions, but the fact that Shizune is also trained in the meds would make me believe so. There have only been three characters so far that have been shown as great medical ninjas, Kabuto, Shizune, and Tsunade. Kabuto respects Tsuande as one of the greatest and Shizune is with Tsunade. The fact that Shizune doesn't call Tsunade sensai, may be because Tsunade may see it as an "old" factor, and doesn't want to be referred to as Tsunade-sensai. After all,

Spoiler for those that don't read the manga:

All in all, it's a great question.

It was said way before that too man. When Anko fought Orochimaru in the woods during the Chunnin exam. When he had her cornered against the tree, he mentioned it. Don't sweat it Wolf, it is something that was mentioned so long ago, it's easy to forget. I still have to go back and read stuff when there is something mentioned that happened in the beginning. I didn't even know about Naruto and Sasuke kissing during the beginning.
