@Kaijo: Really need to consider the eastern fanbase though. Who are they trying to tailor to? Because frankly, while us westerners benefit off the anime, they don't profit much off us. In Nanoha's case, anyways. Considering the total flop the licensed release was.

Says you! hehe

Yeah, I know it's mainly made for the second, but it *is* popular with both demographics.

I'll stop in to add that despite Horo being nude for, I dunno, most of episodes 1 and 2, not to mention the OP, I thought it was done very tastefully and without any weird tones. (Even though Horo is, essentially, one huge tease.) On the other hand, alot of shows that have less nudity can still be focused on fan-service. It's not about skin, it's about how it's presented.

To that end, Nanoha? I'd say it's middle of the road. It's not exactly presented to be creepy (I think, anyway,) but I can see where some people might get some wrong ideas. Particularly when StrikerS introduces characters who are a bit more, ah, well developed.

But my, what an awkward topic.

That's part of the fun of the Nanoha fandom. Come for the show, stay for the topics discussed.

I feel like such a dirty old man.

I just think they're cute girls who have a good story. I like cute girls. I like good stories. I like MSLN.

It's okay Mushi. You're a dirty old man who appreciates child innocence and doesn't try to sexualize them.

Appreciates child innocence. That sounds most deliciously pedophilic. God bless us, God forgive us! Judge and Jury pardon us!

Aside from that, Nya~n, did somebody just hijack your account? I don't remember you speaking with wrong grammar and I'm pretty sure you know how to spell 'discriminatory.'

Erio, go save your girls. They are in need of dire rescuing. In before Backbeard.

So did you just imply that males fans of magical girl and by extension Nanoha are just there for the little girls naked shot ?

I'd say that's a part of why a lot of them are there, yes.

It would be no different than removing any other necessary scene. They'd still watch it, and probably enjoy it, but they'd be a bit peeved. Kind of like how so many are complaining about how they scrapped the scene where Fate flies to Nanoha's hands before the garden of time collapses.

I'll raise you one: Erio, the only guy in the Nanoha series to even get a henshin was not allowed to get naked at all.

Of course, I could be wrong; I've always considered it something of a magical girl show, honestly, but that's just how I interpreted it.
The term for shows that combine girls with machinery is 'mecha musume' which is an entirely different genre on it's own.

Rare too, sadly.

Fanservice, obviously. However that doesn't mean this is the only thing that attracts them. Girls are more often attracted to the cuteness factor rather than the sexy factor, but that doesn't mean the same can't be the case for guys (and vice versa).

And in terms of Nanoha, girls duking it out in uncharacteristically awesome magic fights is the main attraction.

You are making a grand generalisation and i am pretty sure that's what ticked Nya~n, i am not a fan of magical girl show and i dislike naked transformation sequence and i still like a good part of the Nanoha franchise.
