Imo , Charlotte was better char due to being the underdog in the harem , everyone have privilege , even Laura with her circumstance but she also have her own IS along with her comrade in arm . What Charl have is a common IS that she have to do some modifies and her dad shunned her , she was ....different until the author turn her into some sort of violence Yandere like Rin .

How long do you think that the author make the good-hearted, selfless protagonist, Ichika Orimura, suffer (the beatings, hurting, and the pain both his older sister and his IS harem had inflicted) in this series? To me, I don’t think that is worth for all of this. Not for the ultimate power. Not even for the ability to stop Tabane. Ichika could have either die from all of that. Or he may not have long to live if they were to continue to treat him the way they do.

The author sucks. I brought this up before but has Ichika ever actually won a fight on his own that wasn't interrupted by stupid plot shenanigans?

I think the reason why Ichika is weak is because he tried to have a peaceful life. He learned material arts from Chifuyu for self defense, he wasn't trying to be a warrior or a soldier. Houki and Rin chose their lifestyles because they believe "might makes right".

It's also possible Ichika subconsciously suppress his natural abilities because he didn't want to be seen as a monster. That's why he avoided thinking about how he could pilot a IS, he knew he didn't want to know the answer.
