It seems mircx has been nuked off the face of the earth again. I suspect that kcl threatened to burn one too many people and they decided to retaliate.

Either that or some one has a strong disslike against irc servers based around anime. Who knows.

Depending on the type of attack it is (there are many forms of DDoS attacks) it could most likely be taken care of rather easily if the proper safeguards are in place. My intuition tells me that the IP's are most likely being null routed by the ISP though as the majority end up doing that.

mircx? it's not down. I'm on it right now. I'm logged on to several channels there with no problems.

It was under attack last night, and I got d/c'd earlier today and haven't been able to connect to either irc.mircx.com or irc2.mircx.com since.

I was connected this morning using one service provider; but got disconnected during the day. Currently my other connection (different service provider) is working fine.

I'm guessing there is some form of upstream filtering going on to protect the servers from excessive load. You and I just happen to have IP addresses that are blocked for the time being.

That's why I said that they were most likely null routing the IP's. By doing so, a lot of legitimatic traffic has been cut off as well.

Maybe the anime company's hired a team of 31337 |-|4xoRz to take down all the fansub distros on IRC. First they take down IRC than they coming after BitTorrent !!!

Anyway-I've been trying to get on since yesterday night and so far, no luck. I've been able to get there once in a while with huge lags (last one was a lag of 8 minutes and 59 seconds). Both irc.mircx.com and irc2.mircx.com seems to be down, which prevents me from logging in at all. Hopefully the attacks will cease so I can resume my hunting. I might have a bigger chance of getting through with irc2, but who knows. Guess I'll just go and get better burning/hunting equipment.

EDIT: Since I posted this in another thread, I might as well post it again..
Try both irc.mircx.com and irc2.mircx.com in ports 5000, 6000, 6666, 6667, 7000, 8000, 8080, 9000. One of them is bound to work sooner or later.

As for 1stStrike-too bad.

Yea, it's ironic. As soon as I said it seemed back to normal I got d/c'd about 5 minutes later. I blame kcl :P

It's been down for a while because of the attacks that some clowns decided to do to kill time. If you can't log in through irc.mircx.com, try irc2.mircx.com. As for ports, use 5000, 6000, 6666, 6667, 7000, 8000, 8080, 9000. One of them is bound to work sooner or later. No clue when the attacks are going to stop.
btw-you should use the search button-there has been a couple of threads like this. Hopefully this one won't get closed..
