Really? The DVDs still aren't available in this country, though I've been waiting for them more than a little eagerly. The fact they're in 16:9 makes it all better to look forward to.

Anyway /end derailment of Kai topic. ^^;

Ha ha, well I was reading through the whole widescreen vs. fullscreen discussion going on, perhaps I'll go back to the topic at hand lol.

Man, I just watched the first 3 eps of Kei and I fell in love all over again. Lately I had been watching a bunch of "meh" stuff (recalling the winter and fall seasons there really wasn't anything that stuck out, hence me not remembering the names of the series I watched XD), BUUUUT, I'm so glad that now I can re-watch one of the first series that got me hooked into anime in the first place. Geez, it's just so beautiful T_T.

I would have to disagree with the 6/10 rating for episode 3, I actually liked it the best out of the episodes so far. Mainly because Yuko kept talking about how Watanuki still needed to learn....but I kept thinking what that was. They did a great job keeping me guessing because I never really knew. In the deeper context of things, I really thought they conveyed some really deep messages and meanings through the 3rd episode. It was kind of like the summing up of this little arc. I agreed fully when Yuko states why we humans are not truly free.

ALSO, one last thing, I'm so happy shinsen is subbbiinnnng XD! I love them and whenever I get the opportunity to watch something subbed by them, I jump on it!

Eh, I think I'm going to have to stop the ambiguous fashion ratings, which by the way are not rating the quality of the episodes, but the outfits Yuko goes through. Looks like that is a reoccurring misconception (understandably though) since I didn't re-explain the rating system in my second post. I thought the third episode was great...then again I think all of them have been great so far.

S1 did air in WS on BSi. And yes, the raws look much better than the old 4:3 raws.

If I knew S1 was produced in 16:9 I would've bought the R2s But now I'll just wait for the R4s I think.

WTF is this doing in episode 3? Does CLAMP have any affiliation with the folks behind GitS:SAC?

Production I.G, the studio animating Holic, also did SAC. Totally within their rights. ^^

:sigh: This chapter in the manga was so boring, and in the anime, eps 4 was still boring. Oh well, at least there's a bright side: next eps has Kohane's chapter!

Plus, Gits 2: Innocence is getting a re-release in R2 and R1 so they got to plug that title any way they can.

Clamp is famous for:

Straight

Syaoran x Sakura in CCS/TRC
Misaki x Oujirou/Keitarou in Angelic Layer
Chii x Hideki in Chobits
Lantis x Hikaru in MKR (DEBATABLE.)
Hokuto x Kakyuu in X (maybe one-sided)
Kamui x Kotori (before Fuuma took over LOL)

Yaoi

The Yaoi Quartet in X
- (Fuuma/Kamui)
- (Seishirou/Subaru) <-- Also in Tokyo Babylon. Btw, this pairing, don't even think about messing with SxS as this is the pairing which CLAMP is most famous for. I'm not kidding, it'll explain why there was a huge wave of fans after Seishirou made his 2-second appearance in TRC.
Touya x Yukito in CCS
Gingetsu x Ran in Clover
Lantis x Eagle in MKR (DEBATABLE : SEE LANTIS X HIKARU)
Suou and Nokoru in CSD <-- this is intentionally vague, as CLAMP inserts a girl character to drive fans nuts
Rikuou and Kazahaya and their Psuedo-porno yaoi color splashes in Legal Drug This is considered one of the normal scans in LD. (You should be aware by now that CLAMP's very very friendly to yaoi.)
Kakei and Saiga in Legal Drug <-- One manga scene is equal to one RxK's psuedo!porno yaoi splash in LG.

Yuri

Tomoyo x Sakura in CCS <-- totally one-sided
Tomoyo's mummy and Sakura's mummy in CCS <-- totally one-sided, intentional parallel
Kamui's mummy and Fuuma's mummy (?) in X <-- canon yuri.
Souma and Kendappa in RG Veda <-- The female equivalent of Seishirou/Subaru.

Genderless/I'm sorry but if they don't have even the teeniest of boobs, then they're REALLY GIRLY guys

Ashura and that guy - RG-Veda
That really girly person and that really manly person - Wish ( )
Zima x Dita - Chobits

Loli/Shota

Terada x Rika of CCS <-- Rika's like what in fourth grade and she's ENGAGED.
Kusanagi x Yuzuriha of X
Eriol x Kaho of CCS

Not quite there yet but showing definite CLAMP signs (btw, eyeball sharing IS one of them )

Kurogane x Fai in TRC
Doumeki x Watanuki in xxxHOLIC

Following all of CLAMP's works from 1994 + reading up every interview + eat sleep breathe CLAMP lets me a little insight into how they work. I'll tell you one thing for sure : They don't give a flying **** whether it's a guy or a girl. They WILL pair people up regardless of their gender.

With this I say:

Spoiler:

Anyway, carry on!

Edit: Oooh, forgot one more loli~

Can't believe you wrote that all out...

Episode 4 was fun as always and continues the trend of both casting doubts on himawari and making doumeki into watanuki's saviour.

Oh and Mike you should keep your rating system...I find it fun, especially considering Yuuko's outfits always eat alot of my attention per episode.

It's not really much work as I'm just typing them as they pop onto my head. The things you do when you're a CLAMP h0.

I actually think your ratings are fun.

Yuuko's fashion show is a glorious part of xxxHolic. She's one of those "looks good in everything" females who can make even outrageous outfits (regularly spewed from the fashion industry) seem like really good ideas for everyone else.

I'm really glad the 2nd season started as xxxHOLiC is one of my favorite shows.
It's certainly one of the most unique animes out there.

Having read the mange til chap. 132 I'm really looking forward to the anime adaption.
Guess I'm one of the few people who doesn't care wether an anime is FS or WS or whatever...

The horse thing was hilarious for me I was searching some dojins for XXXHOLiC and all I found were yaoi . Now I cant think of anything but the Watanuki the fair maiden rescued by Domeki the knight on the horse . ( Technically Domeki's grandfather ) .I enjoyed the 4 th episode

Just to add, I'm soooo looking forward to the Himawari-arc. My favorite of the entire manga (well up to where I read it). I'm certain they'll do a great job with it.

I guess Watanuki's the kind of character where you either like him or you can't stand him. But being that he's overall not a bad character, i imagine most of what makes him hard to take for others is his tendency to spazz and overreact without letting up much if at all (tho I imagine he would in the later part of Kei). I think FukuJun does a wonderful job as Watanuki. If he annoys you, then the guy is doing his job because I think most, if not all, of his antics are /meant/ to annoy...especially in Kei where the annoy factor seems a bit more cranked up than it was in the first season. Where it was mostly funny to me in S1, it is starting to annoy me in Kei ^^;. I like him overall but there were parts where I couldn't help but to cringe. It's just the fact that he's such a...non-malicious character, that I couldn't not like him regardless.

Episode 4 is special to me, somehow.
Spoiler for episode:

I like the BGMs for Kei thus far. The ones in S1, while good, didn't stand out too much to me but in Kei, four episodes in and I'm already in love with two BGMs.

Spoiler for episode:

@ crisis

i totally agree with your post about the clamp-pairings, except one thing:

KuroFai is so much more obvious than Fuuma/Kamui, (and more then ever Lantis/Eagle, but ok you wrote debetable there *g*)

and about your spoiler, i hope so, too, but
Spoiler for probable events:

yes, my english sucks, but this is sooo important to me ;_;

Episode 4 is as gorgeous as the first three ^^
Haruka-sama is so lovable!
