(CR) Seven Knights Revolution: Eiyū no Keishōsha

Netmarble announced on Thursday that its Seven Knights smartphone RPG is inspiring a television anime that will premiere in April titled Seven Knights Revolution: Eiyū no Keishōsha (The Hero's Successor). Netmarble also announced that new work in the game franchise titled Seven Knights Revolution will release this year.

In the anime's story, there were once many heroes who saved the world from Destruction. Time has since passed, and young men and women who have the title of "Successor" awaken powers from the heroes of old, and are entrusted with the fate of the world. The "Seven Knights" are a group of top Successors. Among the Seven Knights is a young woman named Faria, who is fighting against the troops of Destruction. In the midst of this battle, she saves a young man named Nemo. Nemo then awakens the power of a Successor, but no one knows of the hero whose powers he has inherited.

Kazuya Ichikawa (Monster Strike the Animation, The World Ends with You the Animation) is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS and Domerica. Ukyō Kodachi (Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace note series composition, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga's storywriter) is overseeing the series scripts, Arisa Matsuura (Clean Freak! Aoyama kun) is the character designer, and Yoshiaki Fujisawa (The Eccentric Family, Love Live! School idol project) is composing the music. Seven Knights Revolution is credited with the original work.

So basically the Hortensia Saga of this season.
With the whole "summoning hero" to help battle thing, it is pretty obvious the original source is a gacha game.

Though as of now, it's a lot more iffy than Hortensia (which wasn't necessarily good, but satisfactory).

Not bad, average+ as of now. MC isn't the 8th wonder but aside his hair (that bothers me for unknown reasons) is decent as of now. I like his hero and the harpon arm thing. Also I'm a sucker for halberds and this have their OP sing by flumpool. Only than is enough to win me.

Yeah, something about Hortensia made me invest my time, it was on the border of watchable but I'm not feeling the same here.

I'm not sure why, but author for the series has me a bit confused. For example, the series is called Seven Knights, and the student council identifies them as the Seven Knights. There are currently 6 members. The MC comes in as the 7th Knight, yet, they had to ask him which knight did he communicate with. I mean, there are 7 knights, and when the last one comes, wouldn't you figure out his name by process of elimination?


I really do hope they have an explanation for all of this. The series did start off a bit weird in that the president takes the train from town to town, seeing total devastation. Considering the rate of devastation and the long history of the 7 Knights, wouldn't the human population be practically wiped out by now? Also, wouldn't the railroad tracks be wrecked by the monsters, which effectively causes the train to be unable to travel? Oh well, let's hope for explanations.

Well I believe all the students or some of them can reach the power of the cards and access the power of heroes, of course there are the special seven knights and since they don't know the name of mc heroe they can't be sure that he is indeed the last special hero, they only have the word of the president hero to trust him.

- there are way more than 7 "predecessors".
- the MC's predecessor isn't a famous figure - the girl's predecessor knew him, but the girl didn't, presumably because he wasn't in the history books.
- it looks like membership in the current "7 Knights" isn't purely based on who your predecessor was.

With all that said, why Seven Knights then? If there are way more heroes and these aren't based on predecessors? Why stuck at Seven Knights? Why not just call them Heroic Knights or something along those lines? It really is confusing.

Among the 12 shards of destruction, only 7 of them were given land and the power to rule.
The 12 shards may get pass around across the ages, but there will always only be seven seats of knights.

Spoiler for final thoughts:

...You know, it actually wasn't too bad. It felt slow at first, since it was spending an episode on each separate character, with so many main-ish characters.
But once it got going in the final arc... or maybe you could say only story arc, it was actually not that bad. I liked the conclusion, and that pink haired girl was pretty cute once she removed that weird panda makeup.
While I am fine with that glasses girl going blind (I think they were going for a bit of bittersweetness?), I still found it weird though, since I believe she is a vampire now. And I'd expect a vampire to be able to regenerate such damages.

Also, I liked the OP.

Average, decent watch. I had pretty low expectations, so pleasantly surprised.
