Natsu no Arashi promo from TAF2009
Background effects reminds me of ef, seems like Oonuma Shin is an assistant director. The color looks strange, probably because the video quality. There's a lot less still image than the usual Shaft anime, which makes it not very Shaft-ish... |

Just the color's used reminds me of ef, together with the fact that some of the quick character shots remind me of Negima!?.
Looking very much forward to this one. There's nothing like having a SHAFT/Shinbo show start to air after one has just finished.

Official site renewal with staffs update, episode 1-3 titles. My speculation is correct: Ōnuma Shin is the assistant director.
Some of the added staffs: Quote:
Spoiler for Not really spoilers, just taking up too much space:
The title for the first episode is different from the previous report, but the staffs for the episode remain unchanged. I guess the anime will still start from chapter 18 of the manga. |

Uwa~h... Saw the preview for the anime at the end of Minami-ke... I think I just remembered why I stopped reading the manga... But to think the art was this similar. Heroine's(?) face feels too long, the protagonist makes me want to run in the opposite direction, and the st... stor... Never mind about that...
Though one can't judge from the preview!... I hope.

For what 15 seconds I heard of the opening theme, it strikes me as being like most OPs under Shaft - just out of the ordinary enough and bound to be set to animation that'll have it ringing in my head long after it finishes.

Judging only from the promo alone, I would expect a chaste version of Goshujin-sama, but we know this won't be the case ... or should I say hope it won't? |

The anime style looks more similar to the Love Hina OVA.
Though I have no complains since they're all still in character. The only negative comment about the manga is the author himself and is not Natsu no Arashi related... More of his PREVIOUS work...

SHAFT does not do well with things that aren't already strange and incessantly random.
Why Studio Comet couldn't get ahold of this like they did with School Rumble I don't know. Quote:

Man the protagonist looks like so much more of a twat now. Not that he ISN'T a twat, but... Oh well, at least Tomokazu Seki is in this. Sigh... |

For the character design, I think it's quite close to the manga (except Yayoi). Note that Kobayashi Jin changed his art style around the end of vol.2 to the beginning of vol.3 then changed again in the middle of vol.4, so the anime character design is close to his current art style rather than first few chapters.
Comparison image (from vol.3, since I don't have a scanner for vol.4): I do agree that what I've seen in the PV is on a bad side, though. |
