SchoolMAiDs, the original Mai-Otome? (Spoiler)

Found the proposal on 2ch, it seems like they planned the 2nd Mai series before the first one aired.

According to the proposal, the basic story is similar to Mai-Otome, but Arika was promoted to pearl grade at around ep7, and the main story with Nagi starting up a war at ep9.

MAiDs also stands for "M"aster of "Ai"ding "D"ominance.

I heard they also made storyboards for several episodes but I couldn't find it, anyone wanna share it if they have it?

hmmm, somehow i find this hard to believe, i mean why would they do all that and then just ditch it for Mai-Hime, and THEN come out with something that went back to the "original" Mai Otome?

that makes no sense

Interesting... it looks like Sara Gallagher would've played a larger part in it too.

No Busty Ho or Nina though.

They were probablly thinking "I like a lot of the concepts we're bringing up here, but let's look at a few variations on it."

Then they went back and came up with HiME. When that was a hit, they said, "Alright, what next?" "Well, we've got the original Maid school idea..."

They didn't ditch Mai-HiME, the 2nd project started before Mai-HiME aired on TV, Sunrise mentioned that they are planning a Mai-Trilogy for the project, but since they are making a OVA for Otome, we probably won't see the next one till October 07 if they follow the same release pattern.

I have to wonder why they deviated from that plan in the first place...

I wonder if MO were intended as a 52 ep series, with a break inbetween.
The way the current ending goes, it makes perfect sense.
Afterall, except for a change of leadership in Artai and Cardair, nothing in the MO world has changed.

I'm sure many series start out like this, espically when it's not a manga adaptation. A general idea for a show is pitched, main characters are designed and then it's modified as the parent company wants.

What Sunrise did with the Otome series was to use the characters from my HiME to add in an air of firmiliarty and nostalgia for an exsisting fanbase. I mean common how many shows about maids are there?

Why are there 2 Mashiros? I like the right version better.

the left one is the HiME one, the right one is the MAiD one, the bottom is Sunrise's plan for the Mai-HiME series.

And since the My Otome OVA was announced to being the third segment of the My-HiME project, that means there's no more anime for this project!

you have to remember that the chart was created before Mai-HiME was done airing, the returning characters wasn't even decided in Mai-Otome cause they need to see who's popular. The Mai-Otome OVAs are probably unexpected due to the higher ratings during the end of the show.

You sure the OVA will be the third segment? Feels more like an extended extra for Otome rather than a new Mai series.

そして今回、舞-HiMEプロジェクト第3弾として紹介するのが、『舞-乙HiME』OVA。

"and then this time, let's introduce the Mai-HiME project third installment, 舞-乙HiME OVA"

The official site calls the OVAs the third segment:
http://www.my-zhime.net/ova/index.html

そして今回、舞-HiMEプロジェクト第3弾として紹介するのが、『舞-乙HiME』OVA。

Edit:
Beat me to it. ^^" I don't see why they have to limit themselves to only 3 seasons though. It'd be cool if it spawned many other series like Gundam did. Although the idea could get old pretty fast. My Otome is already a (small) step down from My HiME(IMO).

Ah, I see.

Well you know.

School MAiDs wasn't set in stone when it was announced so it may NOT be the end. Have a little faith.
