More anime character designs revealed!
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...e-cast/.117137 Designs for Eru's grandpa, mother, and Boss David skew more towards the manga design. Batson's design leans more towards his LN illustration, IIRC. I don't remember the dwarves being designed with pointy ears though. Must be anime original. Designs for Stefania, Kurata Tsubasa and Eru's father seem to be largely original. No drill-curls for Stefania, but her long wavy hair and hair bow look quite ojou-sama-ish. Kurata looks very bookish. Eru's dad looks like a German army antagonist from spy series like Joker Game, or a sub-boss encountered by Wonder Woman/Captain America. |

Everything looked good visually. Pacing is a bit fast. They changed or outright skipped some stuff, but I think it's okay. It doesn't really hurt the story so far. I just hope they don't do this to the R&D stuff. Those are some of my favorite parts of the series. Anyway, it's pretty solid overall.

I've not read any of the original sources for this so I don't really know what's different but I was reasonably okay with the pacing - despite the speed I could follow what was happening pretty easily. I can certainly tell that many things were skipped but on the other hand, it's dangerous to start a series with a "slow" episode. A common technique is to start deep in the story then using some flashback episodes but I don't really like that, so I'm glad they seem to be taking a linear approach.

I love the gritty and used looks those robots have, makes them feel so real. And isn't Ernie the cutest? Such an adorable trap! <3
Real fast first episode, death, reborn (or soul set into a boy?), demon fight, robot love, training and learning, new friends, first day at school, new friend, helping out said new friend, getting into advanced class by showing your teach how amazing you are, three years later, practice training, half-sis of friends, demon attack, escape, no escape but reinforcement because teach lets you because you are awesome, epic rescue, high school senpais beating the demons, huge demon shows up who has killed a couple knight runners and is about to melt another, end. Hoh boy, this was a huge amount of elements shown in just one episode. Feels like they wanna get to the good parts as quickly as possible. Not that they did it badly but I would have liked for them to build a bit more on how magic works and why it is "programming" like Ernie said so or how exactly a Robot works, though that is state secret so that will be probably explained later on. Still good episode, pretty enjoyable to watch, especially Ernie's enthusiasm for giant mechas.^^

That was a really good first episode. It was fast but, as an anime-only watcher, I didn't feel lost or felt anything out of place. I actually liked that all the fundamental information for the plot was quickly laid out in the first ep.
I like the MC and his companions. A good start to this series. Looking forward to more. ...although the MC appears to have the better end of the stick by dying...he's reborn as a noble with better looks and get to actually man a robot of his dreams (although the battles as oppose to "peaceful life" in the other world may be the only possible "setback").

As an LN reader, I was preparing for this to be a disaster (as long years of anime watching taught me). After watching episode 1, It is better than I expected, I guess ? The pacing is indeed lightning fast. They were skimming through volume 1 content which is mostly a prologue and ultimately boring. So I can approve of that. The field trip can stand to get more attention though. I hope they are doing this so they can give future volumes more screentime. It seem volume 1 will be finished in 2 episodes. The next 10 episode or so will be....volume 2-3 ? Let's hope they don't try to adapt volume 4 and beyond.
PS. I like short-hair Ardy. She actually look like Kid's twin for once.

good cg and animations but really fast pace epsiode. not enough to even give feel to the characters. too many scenes and jumping from one another to the other. a disappointed viewer I am. animation and graphics sis. it's win by that's that, the other parts are bad.

First off i like the episode, but it was really rushed, normales you take a Volume of Light Novel in 4-5 episodes (so far only Rokka used all its episodes on a single LN Vol), but next chapter will likely be the clímax of Vol 1 that's half the time other series usually gave its content, grandes many things that were cutting out were clichés but some were needed.
. Oh Well, i will watch this but i need to recomend people that they would enjoy the story more if they check out the manga. |

Well, I'm not a LN reader, but I really enjoyed this. The MC is a bit OP (well, given that he is an adult genius inhabiting the body of a young boy....), but I quite liked the character interactions and the setting.
So, basically the real Ernie died in the attack and his body somehow was magically repaired and inhabited by the spirit of the MC, correct? Or is it more of a fusion of the boy and the man?
