Ep 10 aside from the whole Mio being unable to use her powers has also the evil general developing his own mecha to battle the Neuroi using the same technology of the Neuroi, and now we get to see Francesca and most of the witches in action. Wonder what passive abilities they got.

Glad Mio survived, even though I doubted she'd die, but it did show more of what Yoshika's healing abilties are capable of, when she really puts her mind to it.
So about the neuroi...did the humans find a fragment from their main core or something? if it was before the invasion then It could go some way to explaining why the neuroi came there in the first place. The neuroi are aware that the humans have used it to build that big mecha thing, maybe learned from the fragment itself.
Next episode looks like a confrontration with the military power behind the mecha, and on a random note, Mio looks neat without the eyepatch

Okay, it looks like Mio survived, but she's lost all her magic. This makes me wonder about Minna's question about whether she'll fly again... wouldn't that be (even more) suicidal without her magic? It is interesting that she had the eyepatch on in the last scene. Maybe she's just used to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if she has some trick up her sleeve, given what she and Perinne are up to.

What seems most likely to me is that Mio's going to come in to the rescue of the rest of the wing. I wouldn't be surprised one whit if she captures that giant mecha as well and uses it to fight even though she's lost her magic.

I'm also thinking about the technology behind the mecha. Hypothetical storyline: Neuroi accidentally crash to earth. The humans find the crash site and take the core to start experimenting on it and just to see what's up. The Neuroi misconstrue this as an act of war and start fighting back against humans, getting us to where we are now. Thoughts?

Well this was the worst case scenario for what I thought might happen with the story. People once again to blame for everything. Why can't we just have aliens that attack because they are jerks?

Did think that they were going in a direction of humans capturing a neuroi or in this case getting a core and running experiments. Then the war gets started from the neuroi coming to get it back. Though could still be that they attacked first and then we got the fragment after some battle. Still a bit uncertain what happened first in the time line. But whatever started this war it has clearly gone past that point. With so many losses on both sides no one except the innocent victims are clean.

At any rate with that mech looks like the General has what he wants. No longer needing to rely on witches to fight the battles. Instead send out a few of those and the tide of this war could definitely turn in humanities favour.

Anyways good for Mio surviving. Didn't think she would die at all. Maybe a coma, but didn't need to get to that point. As expected her legs probably aren't in great condition and thus the wheelchair. Did think that Perrine might get chewed out for that unannounced 'training session', but looks like it slipped Minna's mind.

Oh and the YoshikaxLynne connection continues its development .

Because of course, the very first thing you do when you develop a new unit is betray the people who have worked selflessly for you for years, because you don't need them any more. It makes perfect and total sense... to anyone who possesses a brain no larger than a damned mosquito's.

Moron. Doesn't he ever READ? This is what the traitorous leader-person ALWAYS does and it NEVER WORKS. It is the singularly STUPIDEST action that can be taken in that sort of circumstance.

Anyway. Neuroi-based mecha built by humans to replace the witches. Yeah yeah, it's super-powerful and fast and junk and it can take out the toughest Neuroi yet created and blast through a hive etc. etc. Shame it's totally going to fail because it lacks the humanity of our girls.

Guesses on what Sakomoto was having Perrine do? IGNORING the obvious innuendo their comments implied?

One presumes what the Neuroi was showing Yoshika had at least something to do with the creation of Super Mecha Witchinator 3000 there. But did that stuff happen before or after the initial invasion? There didn't seem to be any sort of continuity in the time of those clips they were showing.

Shall we guess once more WTF is going on?

Oh, and hot girl-on-girl action in the baths, and several meaningful touching borderline-romantic Yoshika/Lynne moments, too.

Episode 10: SH*T JUST GOT REAL.

Well, seems it really is going the direction Sky Girls went (without the needless padding). Seems the technology developed to fight the Neuroi was derived from them to begin with. Also, instead of Vic Viper, we get this steampunk, Macross-like thingy, which I assume was the thing in the flashback.
Also, alien dudes, don't just 'appear' - that kinda spooks people. Next time go through the formalities so to avoid messes like this.

...at least four years afterwards, the facts of the encounter between the Suomus international volunteer squadron (from the novels) and humanoid Neuroi have yet to be generally distributed to front-line units - when Erica brings the incident up in the bath, Eila refers to it as just a rumour.

From novel 3, we know there were regular dispatches available to Karlsland-based units about what was going on in Suomus. You'd think it would be handy for combat squadrons to know that they might run into Neuroi witch-copies in the air, or to be on the lookout for suspicious behaviour among human witches who might have been captured, brainwashed and sent back. (For that matter, would Yoshika have been so quick to follow the apparently peaceful Neuroi if she'd known there was a possibility of getting her head messed with and being forced to fight her friends and teammates?)

It's a shame the next novel probably won't be out until next year. I'm quite curious now to see what happened back in Suomus, since I'd have thought there were too many people from too many different countries at the Kauhava airbase to effectively silence regarding the humanoid Neuroi incident.

Incidentally, how stupid can this conspiracy get? Transforming mecha aside, why not wait until after the girls had taken their Strikers off and stowed their weapons before pointing guns at them?

one of the reason why sightings of the human-like neroi was only a "rumour" could simply because the military command has suppress the information.

but it must be happening very frequently that the "rumour" still persist.

but yeah, this is a misunderstanding that is compounded when humans continue with the view of ""finders keepers!" attitude.

Probably at the beginning the humans were simply reacting, while you were in amiss of a (or possible) world war, people are edge and react without thinking.

however it's clear that the high command has indeed figured out, or at lease guess why the neroi might be attacking them this time.

this is the second Neroi conflict after all.

I think the general won't care, since he's going to be trying to force them all to retire anyway. Which means when his little toy there turns on him/breaks down/gets devoured by space termites he'll be in big trouble and the girls will have to save the base and (sadly) him along with it.

Really, something ALWAYS goes wrong in situations like this, in this kind of show. It's just a matter of knowing what specifically is going to happen.
