So, I found the problem.

To start though, I did not wait for only a few seconds, the busy pointer showed for only a few seconds. Even after several minutes the game would not load and did not show up in task manager.

However, on the 4chan thread for MSGO I got some handy suggestions. First of all this thread on the MSGO site:

Within the information on this page was a link to a BNOErrorReporter tool. That I was able to download from: http://msgo.bandainamco-ol.jp/member...orReporter.exe

After downloading this tool I ran it then launched the game and received a 044-21c-something error.. I forget the exact error message now. The 044 part is the key though. I did some searching, first checking the table at https://msgo.bandainamco-ol.jp/membe...rmation_no=403 which did not have the error type I was receiving, but may be useful if anyone is having a different error than I was.

Eventually, I did find a post that pointed to information on the MSGO site which was about the 044 error type. I've lost that link now but what it said is that MSGO does not run on Windows 8 systems that have had the Test Signing disabled. This was something I had done for some software I needed to run for work. Turning test signing back on and restarting fixed the problem.

I play on the first server but there are a good amount of players on each side. Look for our clan, Brightslap (Fed) or WhitePiggu (Zeon). My ign is Lord if you ever want to play. I'm always on my fed character.

After a year away from the game im about to join, game is currently updating right now. You said that your server was the first one, is that the same server (francesco) as the ones the goons were on?
If it is I have a feddie character will def join ur clan. Hope to see u in game.

can someone help me? i cant login into the game for some reason

download the game, set ./data, then play, everything fine until i try to enter my id and password.

it goes loading for a while, then a bright flash and then... nothing.... just the same login screen enter id and password again.

You need to change your time/region format to Japanese and re-install, IIRC. Yes, time/region format(how the dates are displayed and such), not the unicode language for applications.

EDIT: additional possibility is that you need to install an older version of DirectX 9c

All the texture in the game are black.
Sad thing is, even being able to play it, can't really do much if all textures are black .-. if anyone knows a fix for this hit me up.

NVM. i managed to correct my error. i skipped the part where it stated region when creating the Bandai-Namco ID. all i need to do now is finish fixing my PC at home so i can play this game with no lag.
