Need help taking screen shots

I want to take some screen shots from some PV's that I have. Problem is that no matter if I use windows player, winamp, vlc, or divx player, half the video screen disapears when I try using the "print screen" button or the "capture" option on a picture program. I'm not sure if this is a issue with the players or the picture programs. Right now I only have microsoft paint, jasc photo album, and the trial version of jasc paint shop pro. Is there a different video player or picture program that will actually capture the full screen?

Edit: Thanks! BSPlayer works great!

Yeah. As long as you're answering his request tell me too. I need to know! how to make a screen shot of your desktop. I have an iMac OSX. Consider this as a request for us ignorant people who have no clue how to take advantage of our CPU's abilities. Please answer we computer ignorant people our requests.

If you turn off Hardware Acceleration for Windows Media Player, you'll be able to take screenshots with PrtScn, but I just use either Virtual Dub or BSPlayer since those two have built-in screencap abilities.

This is the simple way without any special software.
Say you use Windows XP you first need to disable your Direct Draw accelaration. How to do that? Start(left bottom of your desktop)
--> Execute--> wright dxdiag for the Directx diagnosis. Then the Display option. There disable DirectDraw accelaration to be able to capture. When done, you should be able to play any vid but in a shrunk version only (well thats what appens to me) When playing a anime pause it and just press at the same time Alt/Ctrl, and when holding; Prt Scr(for print Screen usualy in the top right of your keyboard). Then with a programme like Photophop just open a new project and the paste option will be enabled so you can get your shot as a image data.

Right Click the screen -> Option -> Capture Frame

Oh yah, [Ctrl + I] supposedly takes screenshot for WMP 9...I haven't tested it for myself since I don't use that version.

Anybody have a program they recommend for grabbing a series of frames from an AVI file? I used to use VirtualDub for that, but now whenever I try to run it, it crashes on me before I can do anything with it.

May sound retarded, but when I need a series for an animation I use BSplayer and just hit the screencap key repeatedly ^_^' Keymashin!

What media player do you use?

MediaPlayerClassic: file > save image
BSPlayer: has screenshot options in the right-click menu
Mplayer2: view > options > hardware acceleration 'None' > print screen
windows media player: ctrl+i (if you use ffdshow, disable any overlays)

Hi, I want to know if there is a way to "take a picture" from a vid, like those people that use .gif and things for their avatars and stuff.

Thanks

BS player can take screens in .jpg or .bmp format. Just set preferences to a directory and press "p"

Media player classic can only take in .bmp form. press F5 at desired screen
