People are buying items in the $250s.

Bnet balance->gold->paypal

The entire market is very chaotic atm, I think I will stay out of it for now, the $10 I made was more for shit and giggles. Maybe I will sell more items so I can buy HotS when it comes out.

Yeah, I mean you get that much by playing 2 minutes of the game. And wouldn't you be better off selling to vendors at that price?

Vallen, I meant US Dollars, not in-game gold. Unless you were being sarcastic about the stupidity in the RMAH right now. XD

I am actually pretty surprised that people are actually buying stuff for $250. That's just ridiculous, I didn't even spend that much money for my PSP.

Ah, didn't notice the currency.

There will always be suckers on the first day.

Talking

I'm actually surprised that people are buying at such high cost this early in the game. We're not talking about godly Rares here, but "plain" Magic items. Man, I wish I could spend my money that frivolously.

On the bright side, if this keeps up, things look good for me in the selling part.

Cheers.

Had a quick look at the RMAH, and wow... no way I'm paying that kind of price for the items I want. I rather grind the gold, thank you very much, or gamble with the Blacksmith.

Heh.

Skane: I know. It's insane at how anyone would think these prices would fly. I mean, I play Warhammer 40k, which stands to say that my purchases can go upwards of 50 USD on a single box, but at least I can TOUCH the models I get. These... are stuff stored on a server somewhere by Blizzard, that in a decade or so might not exist anymore when Blizzard decides not to support a D3 server anymore.

Heh. I collect model kits, and some of them date back to 1988. Spent a ton of money on them, but I still get a sense of satisfaction seeing them in my glass display cupboards.

*Good grief! Some of them are already twenty plus years old?!*

I am not opposed to spending money on items. Heck, I have spent money getting vanity skins in LoL, but... unless it is a perfectly rolled Rare with no "useless" mod and maxed-out attributes, I do not see myself paying more than $25 on anything.

$US100 for a Magic Item? Maybe when a cash crate drops out of the sky and lands at my feet.

Cheers.

Yes, it's unbelievable but I see numerous 100+ dollar bids for high-end items. It's nuts.

You can buy gold over the RMAH.

What is happening is that the godly gears are getting sold ONLY in RMAH, while the gold AH atm has a lot of "junk".

As soon as gold commodity is enable I might sell 10mil gold into bnet balance. I am guessing I can buy it back for a lot cheaper in a week: that is if I wanted to buy it at all.

Fucking hell, I see actual money bids ($12 and increasing!) for that legendary belt that is worse than the one I'm selling in the Gold AH... and I have to wait a day to release it. >.>

Also, this elite pack thinks it's so clever.
Spoiler:

Also, I get spammed with a bunch of achievements for no reason like leveling the blacksmith to 10... which I haven't done.

Um, they are up on the AH for $250. Doesn't mean people are buying them for that price.

It's the first day, taking RMAH prices at face value is foolish.

When you search for items, you can see the sold status of some. People are buying them, maybe not in mass quantities, but there are actually people out there throwing money here. Could be kids using their parents' credit cards on the sly, but still...

That said, I agree that prices will eventually drop.

Cheers.

Well, no shit, but I've seen some stupid auctions sell as "sold" with fairly mediocre items which made me annoyed that I had items stuck in the gold AH. =p

And of course prices will stabilize-- when they know better.

So just a question... can I sell in the RMAH if I don't ever plan to take money out?

As in, if I sell things with the intention of using the virtual money to buy other things in the RMAH, can I do so without authenticators and bank account link ups?

EDIT: Someone put wort's original leg up for $250. Why? I got one, I kept it for amusement. But why would anyone buy one?

It's just like people putting sub par items on the normal AH for 2 billion. Just because they can put it there doesn't mean people are buying it at that price.

You have to have an authenticator to use the RMAH. And there are two ways to sell an item. One is to have it transferred to your Paypal, but Blizzard will take a cut. Another is to transfer it to your Bnet account where Blizzard takes less of a cut.

i believe you can use the RMAH without authenticator. the authenticator is required to add balance to your account, or the take balance out of the account.

so without the authenticator, you earn money by selling items. and that money you earn is stucked in battle.net. you can use it to buy in the RMAH, or i think buy their other games if you want.
