Fairly boring episode this week. Kayneth is a prick so didn't really care for the "oh he got crippled" scenes at all. Sola is a bitch and Lancer seems to be the only decent character in that team. His little backstory was interesting enough.
And Rider was actually kind of cool this time, now that was surprising. |

I usually don't like to discuss any popular visual novel by TYPEMOON because everyone knows what it is about and spoilers all day but, I am enjoying this series very much. Very much.
Epic. It's all I can say. Never had this feeling of joy since the Gurren Lagann and Baccano airings. It's just epic.

Gotta say, Gráinne is damned attractive. Been thinking it ever since the ED first showed her, but seeing her in movement this episode proved it. Especially her bed scene with Lancer. Doubt she'll show up again, though.
Also, just to add to the chorus of other posters: being Lancer is suffering. |

Huh? As far as I can remember, it was Saber/Lancer slashing at skillless mindless fodder. Kayneth and Kiritsugu playing hide and seek. And Kirei choking and kicking some hoes. Not much fighting going on in any of those.

Doesn't matter if someone is putting more of a beat down on someone than another or if it is a form of tactical combat (hide and seek), it is still fighting and last episode was filled with nothing but combat.

It's one thing to expect Fate/Zero to have many good action scenes in it (I myself expect that). It's another thing to expect it to focus on fighting like a Big Shonen title does. The action scenes are welcomed and necessary spice in this show (necessary since the Holy Grail war premise pretty much calls for it), but it's not what drives the show.

I don't think that we should see some ultimate fighting. I enjoy that the anime shows the meaning and the life of each hero, and how fate repeats.
Lancer is full of sadness. "Fate is so cruel" I agree with you Lancer. Come to think of it, there is another hero's story that I want to see, which is about Berserker |

Still it's a relatively minor complaint, I'm still enjoying the series immensely to this point and I'm sure the quality will get even better as we get to the midpoint and build to the climax |

You know, I'm starting to see Kirei as a child who's beginning to understand other emotions this episode because archer made him aware of it. It makes me wonder if he would be aware of it had it not been for archer talking about it, and if it would change him drastically by the end of it; like helping him find a reason to fight the war etc.

Even Zouken was surprised he managed to survive despite only being mangled physically. That speaks volumes. I also doubt Kari will be doing anything that can provide him with sufficient prana. Bless his heart, for a guy that looks as evil as his servant, he has a heart of gold. It was made obscenely obvious. He wants to conquer the world and go back to Macedonia in triumph. It wasn't a joke. |

yeah well I knew that, but I just couldn't remember if he had any specific motivation aside from just simply ruling the world like he always has intended to. If I remember correctly he didn't even know about the grail's existence when first summoned, thus why the heck would he have any stock in the grail war. I just couldn't remember if there was any clear drive for him getting involved in this grail war, thats all. It just seems like whether they intended to use the grail or not all the servents wished to be apart of this battle for the grail, except Rider, who seems to not even care about getting the grail itself but just the conflict he has been dragged into and eventually ruling the world whether through the help of the grail or not. He didn't even seem to know jack about why he was even summoned at first either so I don't think he ever even itnended to be involved in this war.

Rider and other servants are aware that the purpose of summoning them is to win the Grail War. It is more of a duty though as they are bound by contract (command spells) with their master . Not every servant desires the Grail. In F/Z I think very few really care about the Grail itself. Saber wants it to reverse her past mistakes. Gilgamesh kinda wants it because he believes the Grail is rightfully his. Rider and Lancer are fighting for their respective masters. Caster doesn't care. We don't know about Assassin. And Berserker is not sane enough to think about it.
