Iran will learn, one way or another, that the spice must flow.

But the thing is, if ',something'' happen, Iran wouldn't be the only one than will get the consequence of it.

Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

They won't learn because China is still buying oil from them.

So what? So is South Korea, Japan, and EU. I haven't heard any of them cutting off their crude oil import from Iran. Should I dig up the data that I posted some time ago showing that the Japanese import from Iran is comparable to that of Chinese?

As for EU

Quote:
The EU is the first trade partner of Iran, accounting for almost a third of its exports. Close to 90% of EU imports from Iran are energy related. Iran ranks as 6th supplier of energy products for the EU.

That may be true, for now. However, it's not just the United States that depends on oil. The entire developed world depends on oil. If Iran attempts to follow through with its threat to close off the strait, through which about 20 % of the world's oil passes, and is in international waters, it wouldn't be just the United States pressuring Iran.

It seems to me that Iran is pulling the old Arab/Persian bully boy bluff. I'm sure the United States will only be too happy to call that bluff. Iran may be able to deliver a few lumps the U.S. Navy hasn't seen in 70 years, but I think this is an very dangerous game Iran is playing.

like i said it completely idiotic of anyone to rattle sabers against the US when it is heading into a Presidential Election Year. The Incumbent face a incredible amount pressure to respond forcefully to any saber rattling and the challenger will heat up the rhetoric just on general principle.

I am basing on supply and demand. With reduced demand and large surplus and store, price of Iranian oil will drop. At low prices, China might stand in to buy them up - the Chinese government may be corrupted, but I am sure they would flinch at the sight of a good deal.

Innocent of what? Please explain what exactly you consider Iran "guilty" of.

Provocation against America, I assume?

I mean, it's just one of a litany of things that Iran is guilty of.

Which is why I'd like to know what he's talking about. Because if you argue about things nations are guilty of, you could list the US and particularly Israel, too.

Stupidity

Saber Rattling against the US during a presidential election year is not a good idea.

Your sarcasm is misdirected and rather childish. Do you really hate America that much?

What does Israel have to do with the topic at hand?

There's plenty of things America is guilty of. Executing homosexuals, threatening to destroy other sovereign nations, funding the spread of holocaust denial and discriminating against ethnic/religious minorities and women (to name a few) aren't included.

Says who?

In my reading, an American attack on the Iranian fleet would be the best thing which could happen to the Iranian hardliners, to secure their position and to position themselves as leading nation against the Great and Lesser Satan.

Excuse my sarcasm ... too many Americans fail to grasp that the world does not revolve around them, and it's worth pointing that out to people.

But to answer your question: On the usenet, I was a loud and vociferous defender of America up to the second gulf war. I still think we Germans owe Bush sr. alot of gratitude for enabling the unification. I have lots of friends in America and am a regular visitor of Las Vegas. So no, I don't hate America per se. But I hate that America's blind servitude to Israel's utterly irresponsible policies in the Middle East will eventually lead to a huge disaster. I hate the Neocon war criminals who are working to return to power. And I hate the widespread ignorance of roughly half of the American citizens about issues which happen outside of America.

The question was posed who thought that Iran wasn't "guilty", for which I requested clarifications. I assume it was supposed to be "who's guilty for the current mess in the Middle East". And here, I consider the US and particularly the current Israeli government to be at least as "guilty" for this clusterf*ck as Iran.

So in your opinion, America is as guilty as Iran. I'd assume you believe then that the Islamic Revolution in Iran was a direct result of America's support for the State of Israel? I think that's perhaps a little naive.

Regardless, that's a discussion for another time. The point is that Iran is now involved in incitement against America. This, as Xellos stated, is a rather dumb thing to do. Never mind America's military might, what exactly does this do for Iran's attempt to paint itself as the victim?
