The last novel is coming out this spring in Japan. Tokyopop have some problems at the company so most likely I don't see them releasing anymore FMP novels.

i think this novel would have been the last even if they weren't having troubles. By the way what problems are they having?

I watched this video and lost. Is it a 4 season confirmation or kind of fake?

P.S. Sorry for bad English.

It's fake, it's only a trailer of TSR with random FMP logos.

Considering the recent economic environment, and considering the popularity of the FMP in comparison to other series' (serii??), I hope there'll be a 4th season but seriously not hopeful. And there's always that rumour going around that there won't be another series until the novels end, and that hasn't happened yet.

So while I'd kill to get a new series, I'm not too optimistic about it...

I wholeheartedly agree, Devouree.

I love FMP and I'd love to see a new season - well I'd love to see the whole story animated actually - but it doesn't look like it's in the cards at least not in the immediate future.

That question can't be answered by any of us. To get to something that even resembles an answer one would have to have listened in on the conversations between Gatoh and KyoAni.

So, what do we know?

* Gatoh and KyoAni are BFFs ( ). He's been involved in non-FMP-related projects as well, such as SHnY (ep 11) and LS (eps 5, 12 and 22).

* Both Gatoh and TSR's director were very satisfied with what they had created, and we know that there are FMP-fans among the KyoAni staff.

* They found it consuming to animate mecha action and I can undestand why since the last episode of TSR is sporting the best-looking mecha action I've seen. (And I've seen a lot of mechas.) I don't know how much the director was joking though when he said something like "if there will be another one after this, please don't ask me to do it/help you". (I don't remember the exact quote)

* The main plot novel that is next in line to be animated is DVMC. It contains some "good ol' FMP" that could very well be released as an OVA or even a movie.

* The seventh novel introduces a storyline that has yet to reach its conclusion. In other words, it's the "final" arc, and it's the longest one. Even though only one of these four novels (7-10) ends with a real cliffhanger, there's no point in the story where they would be able to end a season unless they intend to continue within a reasonable amount of time.

What I'm trying to say is; the very second they touch this final arc they will simply have to see it through to the end (and as we all know - the final novel has not been released). That is unless they go for an anime original ending ofc, but that is SO not like KyoAni. The infamous "they're waiting for the last book before they do anything"-theory applies here.

* The first five novels turned into 26 episodes of anime. Novels 1, 2 and 3 = 17 episodes of Gonzo's FMP! and novels 4 and 5 = 9 episodes of KyoAni's FMP!TSR. Back when they were doing Fumoffu and TSR they had never done a 2cour anime before. Kanon was the first, and since it was very successful we've seen lots of 2cour adaptations after that. (Lucky Star, Clannad, Clannad ~After Story~).

Now let's say that the eleventh novel really wraps it all up. Then we'd be looking at 6 main plot novels that would need to be turned into anime. They would probably not be able to do that with a 2cour season, especially since they wouldn't have any chance to add any additional material, like they did in TSR (eps 1-4).

I think it's safe to assume that KyoAni won't really know how to tackle this project (if they're even considering it) unless they have access to the entire story, and they won't have that until the final novel has been released. We'll have to wait and see.

Unless you find a source that has access to information about what Gatoh and KyoAni have been talking about during the last couple of years you won't be able to find an answer. All you can do is look at the information at hand and come to your own conclusion. It's hard, I know. I don't even know what to believe anymore.

NOTE: I've been away for quite a while so if I've missed out on some recent information - feel free to point that out.

Hey cheers, Meatrose,

That was really informative. I'm pretty new to the whole anime business, I had no idea it was so complicated.

Wow, thanks for all those details Meatrose, that answers a lot of questions. Though we're still keeping our fingers crossed. Hope dies last apparently.

In case you guys are wondering where we're getting this information, it's from the documentaries and videos of FMP's production team working on TSR. These videos are on the special editions of the TSR dvd's.

Honestly, I hope there is a new FMP series but personally, I think that they're waiting for the final book to be released before starting off DVMC/COMO (PLEASE KyoAni, don't do what the Sigma manga did and take out DVMC).

I was just thinking about it and it would honestly take a least one full season just to get through DVMC, COMO and part of BOMF.

I'll remain hopeful we see another anime but I'll take anything regarding a new series of FMP with a bucket of salt.

One question.

During the last scene of episode 13 of TSR, Chidori and Sousuke are riding a train together. In the last shot, Chidori grabs Sousuke's sleeve button.

What does that mean? I'm not sure why she grabbed his sleeve button(or the sleeve itself anyway).

Thanks

Precisely.

Usually just grabbing the sleeve rather than the whole arm tends to signify the two are close but they are scared to get close to one another.

That's good to hear but I rather have FMP but it's good that the Haruhi is coming back. Is it a continuation?
