Not a bad start for a second season. Loved the Lizardman art work. The VAs doing multiple side characters...noticably and the failure of the Black Scripture gal to be anything even remotely BA, creepy, or menacing was a bit of a downer. Looking forward to next week's ep still.

the animation and OST are already better than season 1
they got lots of budget this time... what a good way to start 2018 anyway, judging from the opening, there might be too many spoilers.. I'm not a fan to see Ains to fight against his own subordinates again.. Shalltear is enough but seems like we saw him fight against masked Demiurge in the opening song... please no about the princess, I don't know but I got some evil vibe from her and that dragon and pervert gothic lady... I hope they could be part of spotlight in this season since I'm curious about their power about the lizardman tribe, somehow it become a promising arc.. looking forward for it |

Episode 2:
A lot of info dump this episode especially about the Lizardmen. I think it's important they did that to give the viewers a better understanding abotu them (specifically the tribes). I really like the character chemistry between Zaryusu and Crusch this week. Just felt like they had a connection from the start. From the buildup, we're definitely getting some action by the looks of it soon. Really glad to see Crusch adapted into this anime. She's as adorable as I had thought.

Wait, is this a flashback? I am sure Satou already used his Meteor Showers to wipe out all the Lizardmen (and other species)! Why are they shown again when they are already all dead?
Cross-series jokes aside, I can understand why people might be upset about this episode, but unfortunately it's part of the medium. Light Novel readers got the entire arc in 1 package, but here people have to go chapter by chapter and it takes about 4 weeks to see an entire novel volume be adapted. But don't worry, folks! Next week we will probably get to see the absolutely best scene of volume 4 of the Overlord Light Novel! A hint: "Shallchair"

Ahh another week of waiting for the fights to begin. Then again, I guess the series would get old if it just focused on ainz stomping noobs. Though it's kind of hard to get behind the lizardmen with their might not even being close to nazarick.
Also lul that mating call. |

Just a typical heroine. The overreactions, having special power but being lonely because of that. Harsh past. Humble personality but determined when she decides for something... well her being a lizard might be a bit of unusual, but let's take it as her unique characteristic, at least she is memorable among all the same heroines.
Well her uniqueness might get a bit of scratch because of another series... Really soon. |

I'm seeing people disliking the current arc, but this build up and viewpoint from the nice, innocent characters that will eventually be forced to fight the evil overlord villain, is one of my favorite parts from the anime. It's a nice old school fantasy setting that was also used in season 1. Getting to know a bit more about the Lizardmen lore and their reactions and strategy regarding the current threat will make the upcoming battle much more epic and memorable, even if the animation sucks, like what happened in season 1.
I also have to congratulate the author for having the balls in creating a funny romantic moment with full non-human characters in a community and medium obsessed with cute moe mannerisms from human females. It was a nice breath from the usual Albedo stuff. The visuals from the ending were excellent. The art kinda reminded me the ending in Youjo Senki. Insta like! Although it's ok to focus a bit on the Lizard tribe, I do question why there is so much focus on them instead of our protagonists. If it goes according to plan, the Lizardmen will be wiped out and made into death knight lizard warriors. To build so much character for characters that might get wiped out seems a bit of an odd choice.
However, if the tribes end up getting spared somehow, then maybe it's not a bad choice to give them this much exposition. It's just that currently, I can't see a way for the lizardmen to survive this, so the focus on them is odd. Here's to hoping this arc can actually surprise me.

Hmm….on one hand, I like when a story fleshes out minor/side characters, and I certainly had a blast watching this episode about the lizardfolks. The interaction between Zaryusu & Crusch is quite enjoyable and hilarious and their non-humanoid behavior is actually refreshing. Also, putting the fact Crusch being a lizard aside, it’s not every day we see a story where the current "heroine" of the arc is forced to do cannibalism in the past to survive. Instead of presenting it in an over-the-top fashion, the story just presented it in a matter-of-fact way and I like that. It adds so much more character to her. I was so into the lizardfolk story that I didn’t realized that 20+ minutes already gone by (which is almost a stark contrast compared to my experience watching Episode 2 of Grancrest).
But on the other hand, all this development can be felt like a strange detour or filler if, in the end, all the named lizardfolks got killed or decimated by Nazarick folks. I mean, I like tragedies and I’m okay if that’s what the story is going for but I have two points of consideration: 1) a long setup for tragedy must directly involve the main characters or main protags 2) if the tragedy only involves minor/side characters and it doesn’t add much impact in the big picture of the narrative, don’t spend so much time on it. Why? Because at the end of the day, audience flock to this story to see the MC and his closest comrades and companions. So, if this lizard story is just a filler, it's better to spend that time on fleshing out Nazarick folks instead, because we know that they’re linked more directly to the MC and we know they’ll be around much longer in the show (given no big threats appear that can harm them). I’m not a source reader so, naturally, I don’t know the final outcome of this arc later on. I’m just hoping that all the built up for the Lizardfolks has good impact for the overall story. If they all die in the end, I hope their deaths will actually mean something.
