Ok, Cockroach is then "too nice".

i was kinda surprised about the comments : even doing your best in rational choice, he can jeopardize the pace and flirting with the opposite girl while you were expecting to stick with the first one. sad indeed.

Takayuki + anime Rin seem to be saints, comparing to him.

well, i felt the opposite : i'm kinda fed up with low-life male leads, either too idiot or too nice towards the girls, hurting all of them. (who said Junpei (Ichigo 100%), Rin (Anime Shuffle!), Takayuki (KGNE), Yuuichi (Mai-hime), Sergey (Mai-Otome) etc?).
actually, i felt the occurrence of a good realistic or bad ass/determined male lead in such shows is terribly rare. (i can only name Yuuichi (kanon 2006) and kinda Mizuho (Otoboku) so far in my memories, that's it -___-")

meh, at least, the undecisive male leads were "goody goody", but Makoto seem to be really the loser BIG TIME

And theres no way this is going to be hentai. Ecchi probably. But thats it.
If you really go with the proper definition, Ecchi = nudity and/or porns, while Hentai = weird and/or disturbingly different, so many anime can be somewhat hentai, while those that are blatantly Ecchi cannot be broadcast into open air. Now, School Days don't have that much weirdness/perversion so you can say it isn't that hentai, but the game really has lots of Ecchi scenes in it.

well... the definitions depend on POV...
actually, i have the "same standard" as question :
-ecchi : rather "+14-16" : pantsu/cleavage/shiny skins shots, with(out) suggestive poses, terms etc.
-hentai : solid "+18" with total nudity, blatant sexual intercourse, with(ou) perversion roaming inside.

but meh, guess people already understood this so

on that matter, it will be probably suggested, just like KGNE as people has stated.

ho, when you are talking a "lot", you mean makoto is trying to bang a girl like... at least once in each "episode" ? (i feel i'm gonna hate this character even before it is aired... this is scary )

Yes, Cockroach may be too nice of a way to describe him.

There is another girl, Setsuna, I believe, who is the main heroine of Summer Days ( someone need to verify this information for me ), and has as much following as two lead girls in Korea and Japan. One of the ending has her meeting Makoto again, for very serious reason, and I mean really, really serious reason. There exist a possibility that Setsuna might pull off Asa Shigure of Shuffle, and be the one that ends up with Makoto, and they might even have their parents forcing them to wed ( this part is not in the game, just my speculation ). That might not be bad, as they could have all three main characters slapping each other for a while before everyone else join in on lynching Makoto, being careful to avoid permanent injury for poor Setsuna's sake.

Now i am thinking what Kanon would have been like if they replace Yuiichi with Makoto

From what I hear, School Days isn't about rational or irrational choices at all. Rather, seemingly inconsequential decisions made at Point A (i.e. as seemingly inconsequential as turning left or right where a corridor forks) will eventually lead to promiscuous behavior at Point B. This design purposely forces the player into being unfaithful, regardless of his original intentions. Consequently, the likelihood of reaching a bad ending is disproportionately high.

At any rate, I suppose that this is the main gimmick of School Days, with the violent endings being just icing on the cake. The protagonist is intentionally unlikable/thoroughly amoral, and you're supposed to get a thrill from seeing him destroy the girls' lives (depicted through the ensuing melodrama) through no choice of your own. Given the story premise, design, and violent endings, I'd say that School Days is primarily intended to be a sadistic romp (although simultaneously compelling via the drama), whereas KGNE takes itself more seriously as a soap opera featuring hapless, yet well-intentioned and potentially redeemable characters.

As you said, POV
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hentai

Over/under for the general English anime community to breath collective fire and declare undying hatred for Makoto: 4 TV episodes. ( the Korean and Japanese anime community are more familiar with the game, so they are yawning and just waiting to cut and grill whatever is left of Makoto at end of each TV episode )The hatred in already strong so you are not adding to it much and is just providing a proof that you are an average person, so fear not.

There is one ending, which is considered as true ending by many of my fellow Korean anime watchers, where Makoto gives really heartfelt and touching apology to one of the girl, to which the girl gives in. I don't know how you arrive at the few good and decent endings, but they do exist, so it is possible for the main character to not ruin people's lives. If the anime producers plays things safe, they will make one of those few good endings as the core of the overall plot.

A safe ending would take all the fun out it. Give the ending where Makoto got what he deserves

But thats the problem, we don't know if this series would be gore ending or sappy ending. So he just might get the girl he deserves

You know, considering a majority of anime just never seemed to have gone the fans way, I'm gonna go on the sappy side and hope for a non-gorish ending, or at least a moderately level series throughout most of it. I don't know, I just can never see this becoming the way the games went. Or maybe it's because I want something different, I say the game endings scarred my brain

And...

This is the first time I'm in the same thread you're in and you didn't call me lolitron! Ain't that a surprise, guess my threats worked

Exactly, the worst part about School Days is the choice branch system. The choices can look completely innocent and harmless, yet choosing, say, "return to classroom" over "wander around a bit more" could lead to totally different developments, one of which most likely involves Makoto meeting the girl that he's NOT currently going out with, and ends up screwing around with her after failing to maintain whatever little willpower he had to begin with.

Pretty much right. School Days is a typical netorare game (a game that focuses on cheating/being cheated, basically), which is a niche genre even for eroges. The sadist element is definitely there.

I didn't have the time to complete all of Kotonoha's endings, although most of them were either "holy psychopath, batman!" or "eh..." for me. But it's true that there were a couple of endings for Sekai where Makoto finally realizes his wrongdoings and did his hardest to gain Sekai's forgiveness.

To be honest, they weren't all that bad, but only because it made Sekai happy in the end (I didn't really give a damn about Makoto's change of heart). Makoto's efforts were sincere and real, but for me, it was too little, too late.

Still, they were "good" endings, so for people looking for a happy ending, it's definitely a possibility too.

Unfortunately, the ending that actually made me (and probably many others) cheer out loud was:
Spoiler:

The "wife" ending for Setsuna was good too, in a comedy-good kind of way.

As for Summer Days. I generally consider that as a different game (it's an "alternate story", after all). Makoto's "needs-to-die" level is much lower here since he didn't really screw around with anyone (well, not behind another person's back anyway). In the Paris route, he actually acted like an upstanding nice guy (although he really needs to work on the jealousy thing). I would've actually been impressed if it weren't for his track record in School Days.

lol it seems that Makoto is destined to be hated (like most male harem leads) ~ but like i said before i think it would be fun to make school days higurashi style (even tho its highly impossible ~ noes ~)

He already is hated with a passion, and for many reasons. I'll even admit that i did 'hate' him at certain parts, though its the kind of hate were you can understand his reasons. Still, a total arse --- though i like him. ^^;

MoonPhase updated today with more details, and it seems like someone already kindly added it to ANN. The script is by the same guy who did the series composition for Utawarerumono, and the director has worked on a lot of stuff. The only additional bit that MoonPhase also listed was that it's slated for 13 episodes. And NSW still hasn't put the animation production company as TNK in the first post.

Hmm, am i the only one who thinks 13 episodes is perfect? :3

I think they could have gone with a different director, though i could be wrong. Keitaro Motonaga could be the man for the job. As for the script.. well, we've already mentioned how it'll be hard for this one to work without the sex scenes, so we'll see what he can do.

I'm definetly going to watch it! I saw a few AMV and the first chapter of the game, I must say it was rather interesting. Can't understand how such cute girls can do such things as kill other people... That Makoto dude must have done some really bad things to both of them. Can't wait for July!

Personally I won't watch it.

Take out the 'Oh Christ you cheated on me AGAIN' sex drama and the bad end scenes, and then take out the technical aspect and fact of a fully animated game and all you got is a normal/strange love triangle with no particularly three dimensional characters.

There's just so much better school love stories out there to animate; boo, blah, bah humbug, etc.

Hahaha, you can say the same for EVERY single story in existence. If you wanna bash School Days, at least make an effort to be creative and at least appear intelligent while doing so. That sort of, "If you take out the details," argument is just silly.

It's neither bashing nor silly, since my point was and is that it's exactly the details that made it 'popular' will be taken out when it makes the transaction from eroge to anime. But hey, bashing me is a fun past time sport too recently I have heard, not that I care. Wish I can find the source of that anger though.
