Viz has licensed the Yashahime manga for a 2022 physical release, amongst other titles.

Also, someone posted an interesting comment re. Yashahime's production here (dunno how true it is):

Quote:
"...apparently the studio revealed that Rumiko Takahashi refused to greenlight a sequel centered around InuYasha & Kagome (or their kids) & only agreed to the sequel once they came up with the Sess(houmaru's) twins idea (apparently their first pitch was a sequel focusing on InuYasha & Kagome having a son & she turned it down)."

That's interesting, I sort of get where she's coming from; their story is done and the focus should be on something a bit different.

Exactly. There wasn't much of a reason to go back to Inuyasha's world. Naraku and his minions are dead. The Shikon Jewel is destroyed and gone forever. There's no more story to tell after all that.

I know Yashahime wasn't to everyone's expectations--if any--or to anyone's liking, but the series does give an acceptable reason to return for more.

Personally, I find the series kind of fun and like it a bit.

My theory for the series is that Kirinmaru and Zero are not the main antagonist of this series, just demon being use by the big bad that is the Grim Comet. The Grim Comet that coming back in modern day where most demon are extinct or weak. Meaning that their nothing to stop it from claiming earth this time around. Also a magic well that disappear because time was being altered and a tree that could lead to the Grim Comet connecting to past versions of itself to swallow the world into a new dark age and start the end of all time.

Is the show trying to go with Setsuna x Hisui? O_o
If yes, that has got to be one of the random relationship.

Season 1 first episode did an excellent job upon expanding the epilogue to InuYasha in order to setup the start of Yashahime. What bothers me though are the ridiculous power-ups in Yashahime so easily obtained by Towa and Setsuna like there's no big deal or conflicting quest to earn them.

And, there's no much gravitas in terms of personality for Towa, but I'm truly hoping for Setsuna's character growth to eventually pay off.

Fortunately, Season 2's episode three answered my prayers, and we got more flashbacks on Sesshoumaru and Rin.

Yeah, I'm surprised the animation was so relatively good, despite having no relation to the main plot. Maybe someone in the staff liked the princess...

Speaking of Hachi, this means nearly all of the OG Inuyasha characters (major and minor) have appeared or been mentioned at some point of Yashahime's run.

Which really highlights Shippou's noticeable absence so far, and he was a major appearing character in Inuyasha.

Maybe they're not sure whether to keep Shippou as a child or have him grow a bit.

Well it looks like Setsuna finely getting a handle on that weapon of hers other then clear cutting a bamboo forest down

Those demon slayers really know how to make a trap that works

Seems like half-demons don't always have the exact same traits. None of the girls have white hair or dog ears either.
