Geofront's Zero also has a turbo mode and backlog. Plus its pretty simple to use a controller for it.

As for Ao, I had to use a torrent though.

Interestingly enough, I personally felt like Sky was too generic in comparison to Crossbell, in terms of its setting, to compare in quality for me. Azure felt a lot like the NT Othinus arc for me ... so I was a big fan, lol, and it's my favorite game in the series atm ... still early on in CS III.

I think Crossbell felt a lot more personal overall and I think it managed to be a lot more effective for me because it was a small hub. It got me to want to 99% Ao, I did everything except the very first hidden quest I accidentally missed, and the only two other games I ever got close to 100%'ing are Bravely Second and Ys VIII.

IMO Crossbell is much more a story of national interests, insane action, intrigue, and mystery than necessarily a character-driven story. Yet, it still manages to craft some really good characters, and I resonate with it a lot more by the end of Ao than all of Sky. Though SC of course holds a special place in my heart.

Ultimately I enjoyed it more then then the Sky Trilogy. Although I do think the cast in sky was better overall too. (Some main characters like Ellie and Noel kind of fall by the way side character-wise after their introductory arc). The rest of the cast was great though with Randy and Tio being particularly excellent. While the story was very good, I mostly enjoyed the side quests, which I found even better than the sky ones. I particularly liked how semi important they could be to the main story (Sully literally gets introduced in one of them). They're were several times they would even get mentioned if you did them in the story itself (The one with the Con Man trying to scam Amorica Village was a particularly nice one). It really helped give the impression of Crossbell being a well realized place. I of course also enjoyed the conclusion to Renne's arc and the references to the Sen Series were nice too.

If I had some complaints, its that first both Joachim and Mariabell were trying to be too much like Weissmann 2.0. (Joachim was particularly bad with how every other sentence was that he was Weissmann, but worse). Second was that characters were sometimes too quick to change their minds (Noel and Ian in particular practically change their ways of thinking in a scene. It's was more disconcerting in Ian's case, since he literally killed someone he considered a friend to accomplish his goals. It was nice though that one other complaint I had (That the SSS were a little to quick to move heaven and earth for Kea's sake) did get answered in the game itself.

Also shout out the the Arianhrod fight. It didn't get its reputation by being the hardest Kiseki fight for nothing. (I also like how you get 9999 exp (From the Arios fight in Chapter 4 too) for beating her. Nice integration of game play and story there.

Didn't even try that fight, that's SMT superbosses levels of insane.

Did manage to win the first Arios fight, though, and it was CLUTCH. Barely managed to finish him off with Randy with only him and Tio left standing. That said, if you plan to revisit the series someday, here's an idea for a challenge: For the sidequest where you fight the two bracer ladies (Does the ps4 version give them portaits, I wonder), try using a party with no instadeath protection and only one member can resurrect. Pretty sure it took me as much time as the Arios fight, and with way more item usage.

Sidequests were definitively improved over Sky, with quite a few memorable moments to them, my favorites being Tio losing her innocence (...again), the gang getting Lupin'd by Blueblanc and going with Randy for the ferris wheel ride for giggles. Let's be honest, that's the Lloyd way to go

Personally, I found funny how Estelle of all people pointed out Joaquim was just a washed down Weismann, and while it was disapointing I gave it a pass since there was still a whole game to go through, and surely enough, things improved considerably in the second one. About your second complaint, I agree with Ian, and Noel... does harem magic count as an excuse? Ok, it was pretty weak, not gonna lie. As I said, I prefer Sky for characters overall.

In regards to Kea, I agree, and would like to add I'm conflicted about the big revelation; I did love how it actually explained that first gameplay bit with the gang, and no one else, but the argument about not relying in divine power to direct society kinda loses strenght when used by the four people in the planet owing their lives to a goddess. That said, Kea's actions also saved Renne, so I can't complain too much. On a related note, it took me way too much time to realize the relevance of a certain purple haired merchant and his family.

As for characters I have to go with Randy as well, but please don't make me decide between Tio and Ellie, I like them both for different reasons. Big shoutout to Wazy as well for being so fun.

Crossbell is a much more interesting place, and the story was filled with lots of twists (some **** just got real moments really made my heart skip a beat) and nuances far above anything in Sky, but by the end of The Third, I was invested with multiple members of the crew (Mostly Estelle, Renne, Joshua, and Olivier) to a level the SSS didn't quite manage to reach, and in fact, my main motivation to start the crossbell games was to see the conclusion for a certain someone's arc. To be clear, Ao and Zero are the better games mechanics and plot-wise, but Sky still has my favorite characters overall, and I really love me some good characters, even if everything else is kinda meh, not just in games, but in general. I'm just biased, really.

As you said, its a more story related game, and it shows with how massive some of the events taking place are. If sky is some weird stuff happening in a little faraway country

By the climax of the Crossbell saga, we have New York declaring independence via nukes.

Little bit more relevant in the big scheme of things, I'd say.

English CS4 release date is set for October 27! But that only applies to the PS4 version. Switch and PC versions will follow, but not until next year, it seems. Personally hoping for a more solid release date on that Switch version, preferably sooner rather than later....

There's actually a workaround.

I live chatted with PSN support to request a refund due to the game bugging up on PSN pre-order. They refunded my money, which removed the buggy pre-order from my library, then I "re-bought" the game on PSN. It's now downloading properly.
