Lmao I completely disagree. The execution of this arc has been 10/10 top notch and is far better than any of the previous arcs. Also a comment was made about Kimi being noted as possible the future NINTH level five. What about the 8th then?????? (Is this referencing Takitsubo?) That plus the Uiharu thing make this chapter absolutely crazy.

This is the best railgun chapter by far and also just one of the best index arcs ngl.

Pull dragons when things get boring but IIRC it's the mangaka Fuyukawa taking creative liberties

Yeah, this arc is lame, it has good things but overall mediocre.

I'm in the camp that's largely indifferent to this arc. I think it comes down to the following points:

1. The main plot is exceedingly simple and boring.
2. The villains and their backstory are the most boring in Railgun yet.
   • I've been struggling to even remember anything about them; I even forgot that they were participants of a variant of the Dark May project.
   • This was supposedly a major plot point but I was that detached from their issues that I overlooked that somewhat important fact.
3. Shundan Kimi might be the biggest Mary Sue in the entire franchise (and that's saying something).
   • Street-fighting
   • Angel Dragon
   • Railgun mimicry
   • #9 Level 5 Candidate
   • Black Hole-creating Holistic Esper (given through an info-dump; even though holistic espers aren't supposed to be AIM-based; arguably the most BS ability ever created)
4. The arc has gone on for too long and still doesn't appear to be over.

The arc is kept afloat by the following:

1. The art, action and fights themselves are top-notch as always.
2. The Saten and Uiharu relationship being front and center leading to satisfying growth of Saten as a character.
3. The fact that Kamijou Touma is once again secretly driving the most interesting parts of the arc with:
   • everything related to the Angel Dragon (including Uiharu's recent transformation), and
   • Misaka Mikoto's background motivation after realizing her feelings for him (see end of the Raifu fight and the most recent Kimi fight).

Daihaseisai still stands as the Railgun manga's peak. But at least I can say that this arc is better than the Dream Ranker Arc (which was impeded by it being a series of disjointed events). Then again, the Dream Ranker Arc was more fun than this one...

You know, I guess I really am only reading this for the Angel Dragon...

Nah. If anything, she's trying to rip the Angel Dragon from Kimi to herself in order to strip Kimi of its powers and side effects. None of this actually solves the issue of there being an Angel Dragon flying around.

Definitely Takitsubo. Also, there was yet another subtle nod to the Parameter List here.

EDIT: Also does anyone else remember when Shirai Kuroko was one of main characters of this manga? Its been over a year in real time since we last saw her.

2nd EDIT: Holy crap. I just realized I want Kamisato Kakeru and his World Rejecter to gatecrash this arc and remove Shundan Kimi from existence. I actually hate her character that much.

I lost track of the date on this arc.
At this moment, is Touma still on in Italy dealing with Magicians?
Maybe this is the final arc before all things went to hell in the Academy City after God's Right Seat declare war against the Science Side.

But really the Kazari part, was unexpected.
When we think about it though, it really suits her character.
She always has this animosity while being unusually calm towards the person who hurt Ruiko, the first victim was Harumi.

Just saying but being a level 5 candidate does not mean they will actually become one, for example,

while Takitsubo has/had the potential, her abuse of the drug that amplified her powers basically crippled her in that regard and now she can't properly draw put her powers true potential because it will kill her.

Regarding Kimi, she is most definitely just going to lose her dragon and have her powers nerfed by the end because her powers come from said dragon. I just hope that Touma appears and just rips it right out of her or something. As for Uiharu, I can't even begin to understand why any of that is happening to her since there has been literally nothing before this arc that alluded to it.

This arc is forgettable. The villain is forgettable(to be honest I forget the name of the girl, I just called her dragon girl), the plot point is forgettable(I forget the whole point of the arc) it's boring. I keep remember other stories that I read the same time as this and I remember them more. Plus the dragon had become exploitable with Uiharu having one( I was WTF there! when it appeared)

I just remember before when remembering the name dragon = aiwass and its supposedly something scary but with how railgun is treating it. spreading dragons everywhere It became cheap. Aiwass will laugh and crowley will cry

Why can't they actually focus on Kimi the person instead of Kimi as the mishmash of Science and Magic?

EDIT: Also feeling iffy towards dragging Saten and Uiharu into the frontline. Isn't this something that Mikoto wants to avoid? And if it's for the sake of character development, there's other ways to that end. Uiharu being turned into that thing? I don't like it at all, even if it was explained why. How will they explain that the events here justify the lack of eventfulness in Uiharu's character in the light novels?

Wouldn't exactly call being a holistic esper anything to do with magic.

I kinda find the whole holistic esper thing interesting, since it calls into question what exactly Level 0's (and Touma) are.

Komoe said that scientifically speaking, Level 0's shouldn't exist. Makes me wonder how many of them are actually holistic espers whose ability is to move space dust a million miles away or something.

How will they explain that the events here justify the lack of eventfulness in Uiharu's character in the light novels?

I think they're well past explaining that.

Dragons are far from being scientific. And while holistic espers are nothing foreign to the Toaruverse, it's way beyond the established powerlevels in Railgun. There's a reason why it's introduced in Index: the fluctuations of power in the series is par for the course, compared to Railgun where there's very few cases of persistent power aside from the Level 5s.

You make it sound like two different universes or something. Besides, didn't we already pass by the 'acceptable' power levels for Railgun when Mikoto was transforming into a Level 6?

The journey to Level 6 is doomed to fail every time. It failed with Accelerator, and it failed again with Mikoto. The closest thing is the kaiju battle over at the climax of Dream Ranker, and that's already stretching it.

Failure or not, Level 5.2 Misaka was extremely powerful, to a point that eclipses a good deal of what we see in Index

that's not true. That would only apply to railgun side but not in index side/magic side. the monsters later on in magic side are still, monsters. look at grs group.
