So I recently started this show the other day, and caught up. I'm really liking it, a lot more amusing than I imagined, everyone is absolutely adorable too.
I also find it very relaxing to watch. Oh and the OP/ED is nice too.

This show's quite subtle. I really liked how gently put a layer of envy in the interactions, without being obstructive at all yet enough to change the pace of the conversations. The fact they're willing to go into the characters just a tad bit more than usual really enhances it.
We had the repeated cut at the vendor machine in episode 3, and now Yuzuko became self-aware of her more distant position in the group. That little bit of discomfort gets resolved neatly at the end, and the subplot (if you even want to call it that) is resolved in the same episode it was introduced. Little nuances to the characters and their dynamics are key for works like these. That was kind of sidetracked in favour of impact on YuruYuri, but here the comedy is much calmer and they always have room for that tiny bit of introspection. |

Upcoming staff (via 2ch, I didn't get a picture but I think it's legit since it's confirmed for episode 6)

So we get two episodes by Hiroshi Ikehata who did my favourite episode so far. He seems pretty active this month since he's also doing some episodes of other series. Takayuki Kitagawa will make his debut as episode director. I think he's one of Hiroshi Ikehata's pupil so with Keisuke Kojima as animation director, we might get something sweet like episode 3. Someone on 2ch suspected him of animating the throwing can scene.

Yuyushiki 06 - You Say Potato, Thor Says Potato In A Booming Shakespearean Voice
There's so much to take away from one of these episodes. Winter episodes don't change things up too much. I was hoping to see if the winter uniforms for the girls looked any different, but I suppose not. For as much as Yui appeared to be the voice of reason, she has her own quirks, such as cracking up over "potato" and her strange ideas about snowflakes. That final segment was almost majestic in its mysteriousness, and the CGI snowflake had a certain beauty about it. Just because the series is all about mundane conversations doesn't mean it can't hint at something more ethereal out there. That's why I liked the daydream episode of K-ON!! so much. Okano certainly adds an interesting dimension to the cast - Aikawa's at the center of a storm she's only barely aware of. And I learned about Zeller's congruence! A week well spent, I'd say. Oh, and the show's had an album announced that will have character songs. I feel compelled to mention this for every show where it's the case. |

Yukari being the second potato girl of this spring.
So much things in this episode : potatoes, unpexpected snowflake god, Zeller's congruence, mom ass, jealousy, cute young Yukari... that's really a complete episode. I envy their relation with their teacher. I also enjoyed how they used Yukari's drawings which also appear in the ED. Takayuki Kitagawa did a good job as his first direction and Masaki Tachibana's storyboard had some great layouts. I know Yuyushiki is a series for young animators but that's the first I've ever seen so much names written in hiragana in the credits : garuan (がるあん), rapparu (らっパル), majiro, bucho (ぶちょ), don (どん) typical sign of young animators or web animators though there are some veterans in the staff (Hisao Yokobori, Masatsugu Arakawa). Dat Mom ass. Another gif since I enjoy so much Yukari hands gesture :

Hmm? Yui has a double standard when it comes to how she treats people who place cold hands against her cheeks.
Quote:
So Aikawa's friend is "like that" as well? Certainly looked like she was trying to head off Yui from stealing Aikawa away from her. *watches preview* Yuzuko wants to eat Yui-chan's "fruit?!" Wait... what?! Quote:
