Actually, the Darkness Queen is not all that important. Restia carries the will of the Darkness Elemental Lord and has the duty/power of guiding the Demon King so that he will not go berserk with the Darkness power. Rubia intended to use the Darkness Queen as some kind of substitute for Restia, since it seems that she intended to dispose of Restia on some point.

Well all of the Elemental Lords have a Queen that appeases them when they are angered. I'm guessing the Darkness Queen is there for the Darkness Elemental Lord.

Because Rubia needs one or otherwise he'll kill everything instead of just the Elemental Lords.

Meanwhile the pink-haired girl is Airi Shiryuu, an innocent and upbeat elementalist who goes along Kamito throughout the story (or who could be flirting, but since she's innocent...)

^Not at all. Just some made up characters who will disappear from the Seirei tsukai universe once you complete the smart phone game. Date-a-Live does this quite often.

To answer your question Yes and No. No there isnt a current answer on how to beat the otherworldly darkness and Yes in the fact that the most likely route involves combining the power of the 6 elemental Lords once they've been cleared of the darkness themselves Since at the moment the Elemental Lords are likely the most powerful source of the Otherworldly Darkness that exists.
