geez I don't believe the French populace was as upset about their country being occupied by the Wehrmacht as they are about seeing their retirement age being raised from 60 t0 62. With the long term prognosis for many of their social programs being that of bankruptcy, and the government at least attempting to salvage something for the future, you would think that they would be forced to face reality.

Union workers and spoiled brat students may well burn down the entire country to prevent the government from making the type of cuts that are needed for long-term financial solvency. Don't they understand that 100% of 0= 0 ?

(Almost nobody retires at 60 or even 62 already. I'm not sure why the media fixates on that.)

As for the bankruptcy thing... Yes. That is a problem, and working longer is indeed a solution. (Though a temporary one. From what I've heard, we'll have to readjust again in 20 years or less.) However, those protesting would prefer others such as:
- taxing the capital movements.
- taxing the rich. In particular, repeal tax cuts on the highest tax brackets and on stock options, which for some reason aren't taxed as normal income.
- pay more for the retirement funds, but keep the retirement ages as they are.

I'm not saying I agree with them, I'm not saying there aren't a lot of morons out there, but let's not get too caricatural, shall we?

Honestly speaking, I don't think you should worry too much about that. China's recent move to unpeg the yuan a little pretty much shows that economics will probably push them rethink their form of governance, unless they already have an economic version of NKVD in place.

Well, I can't think of a kind way to say that Americans were killed by terrorists influenced by Islam. I remember one Republican even emphasised they didn't care about Islam but what was in their heads. Perhaps deluded on the 'They hate our freedom' aspect.

But of course, this threat has taken a life of it's own in politics.

Julian Assange WALKS OUT Of CNN Interview

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange walked out of an interview with CNN in London.

Assange, who was being interviewed to discuss the 400,000 pages of documents WikiLeaks released about the Iraq War, grew upset when interviewer Atika Shubert asked about his personal legal issues. Assange was investigated in Sweden on charges of sexual abuse that were then dropped, but the investigation was re-opened shortly thereafter.

"This interview is about something else," Assange told Shubert. "I'm going to walk if you're going to contaminate us revealing the deaths of 104,000 people with attacks against my person."

Assange repeatedly threatened to walk off, calling Shubert's questions about his personal life "completely disgusting."

As Shubert persisted, Assange apologized, removed his mic and walked off the set.

It's just like CNN to rely on underhanded methods to make someone look bad in order to make him look less credible. Assange was probably onto something and it was in CNN's best interest not to allow the people to believe in what he leaked out, so shattering his appearance to the public was so he could lose credibility.

As long as the commercial networks treat their news like a profit center instead of a community service (as they did prior to the late 80s), this trend of "can we be slimier than the National Enquirer?" will worsen. I can barely tell the difference between corporate news and ET/Extra/InsideEdition crapola anymore.

If you listen to what she was actually trying to ask, it was more on the lines of, 'Your legal situation, do you think that's part of an attack on you?' In fact she asks at 3:16 in whether he wants to "address whether this is an attack on you."

The fact is, it's totally irrelavant to the topic and should not be presented on the table. Especially after it was rejected for discussion repeatedly for this exact reason.

When you consider that after the collateral murder video, all Assange really has provided as his *big scoops* was bassically information everybody else had already figured out, it's not surprising that our spastic 24 hour a day news cycle media would focus on something like that.

In the interest of fairness, the devil thing is just the naked guy's version. According to some of the other people involved, he's the one who went nuts and assaulted his in-laws, who defended themselves. Of course, I can't really say it's less crazy for 11 people to jump out a window just to escape one bare ass naked guy locked out of the apartment. At least if he was the devil, the panic would be understandable.
