One thing to remember is that chimera ants aren't normal animal species. I don't find it surprising that the Chameleon could have an invisibility ability and how the old man spider can see Pokkle's aura.
IIRC there were always human who can use nen without training... remember Wing's explanation back then? people like this are considered as genius, psychics, superhumans, etc. I believe Neon Nostrade is also the same. It's unlikely that she underwent a training like the hunters IMO. The point is, if there are humans who can unconsciously awaken their aura, I think so do chimera ants. Moreover, they're also animals which are closer to nature than humans. From the old man spider's explanation, it seems like only the high rank ones can see the auras, not the grunts. Before Pokkle met him, he only killed the grunts, IIRC. Just my opinion, though.

Like I said two pages ago, instead of wondering about their abilities, I'm more curious about how some of those ants acquire clothes which is way too fancy for the villagers to own and no way it came from the drug-dealers. For example: the yellow bikini the Centipede-girl wears .

But of course it's not possible since they are on NGL while the clothes they wear are tailored for sure. So in the end maybe it's just for the sake of character designs

^ Togashi shouldn’t apply those clothes to the ants (just for the lulz) in the first place since they kinda break the “serious business” feel of this arc. When I first see them in those clothes, I went “WTF?!”. He could just make them all like DBZ’s Cell, fancy body with no clothes (just like Colt/Kurt).
Just my 2-cent .

Having them wear clothes is meaningful though, because it shows them becoming more human. And honestly, the main "serious business" aspect of the arc so far is the contrast between the ultra-violence and the ants' rather casual approach to everything. Most of them don't consider what they're doing or who they kill important or serious. It's just sort of a job for them?

Idk maybe some villagers or soldiers happen to find some loophole in the security to keep their polyester and have some fairly weird or unusual hobbies to themselves before they got stolen? Remember the crocodile dude in the jumpsuit that challenged Colt a few episodes back? But yeah the clothes really aren't needed, so I definitely agree with you there. I like the penguin's design though.
