The kate reference is hilarious.

I'm loving this series, I love the way Victorique speaks (I'm positive she has Aspergers) and while the mysteries aren't that impressive at least the adults don't descend to Series of Unfortunate Levels of lacking of common sense.

The ending theme is pretty good.

My assumption is that WWII seperates them, as Kujo has too much honor to desert the IJA during wartime unless he gets lucky and is injured fairly early on.

Though what would be best if he was posted as a military attache to Italy.

Amazing, isn't it, how Yuuki Aoi seems able to come up with classic little pieces of seiyuu sound? Like the hollow laughter in an early episode. Or like the weird laughter of Sunako in Shiki. Or like this well-controlled off-key singing here.

I agree, the hollow laughing was hilarious and as was the bad bad terribad off key singing.

Highly enjoyable unrolling of surprises. Not exactly realistic, but entertaining, and realistic enough, goth-loli strength aside. But all the rest could have been nothing, as long as we got Yuuki Aoi's absolutely brilliant voicing of the episode's last line. A dart to the heart, as her voice flared into beautiful warmth over the words "ano basho e." Those three words should get her dozens of roles.

The hair color disparity noted earlier is now explained. Victorica notices all.

And Cordelia lives! Sixteen more episodes to enjoy.

I was a little disappointed that they did not show the short dialogue piece at the end of the second novel between Kujo and Victorique (which eps 6-8 generally covered), but I think the general meaning behind those words came across nicely without them being said....

I laughed quite a few times as well. It was a great episode, but it was sullied by nonsensical situations, like Victorique managing to hold Kujo up all by herself as you said (what the heck were Grevil and the others doing?! There were right behind her), or the maid setting the whole village on fire without ever getting intercepted by anybody. I imagined them running around Benny Hill style. Ambrose saying that Harmina is a "little weird" was hilarious as well. That's got to be the understatement of the year. That chick was totally off her rocker.

I liked the way Victorique resolved the cases. It wasn't too far-fetched this time. Making Harminia confess like that was a little weak though... but she was nuts so I guess I can buy it. As we suspected, Brian Roscoe is the magician, and he's well acquainted with Cordelia, who surprisingly showed up at the end of the episode. A shame she didn't try to meet Victorique. Now that her name has been cleared, can't she visit her daughter?

Yuuki Aoi's acting was brilliant. She's so much more impressive in this show than she is in Madoka.

Except Victorique the rest character in this show are kind of dumb. On the early part of ep8 Blois make a super jumb combo aim lock and yet useless on the burning bridge. Also kujo was stupid to go 1v1 with armed enemy. Wont it much more easier to 2v1 knockdown the maid get the job done and get your ass of the bridge?

You might want to lend her a hand there..." It would've made more sense if he wasn't there, or somehow cut off from the others as the whole bridge scene was going on.

As a kid, Harminia was told that she was going to die 20 years later, at the age of 26, which she is in the present day of the show. So did she also commit the murder when she was six years old? I mean, considering that the murder took place before Cordelia even met de Blois, and that Victorica is 15-ish...

Nope, that scene was pretty faithful to the source material (which in this case was a bad thing as pointed out )

General impressions of this story as a whole to come later, but I was pretty pleased with the way BONES handled the second novel adaptation. It was generally the better out of the two novels (though it had it's faults) but BONES managed to make the most of it.

I feel like I'm watching Disney movies due to these endings. Oh well.

Honestly, I had such high hopes for the mystery again, and again it was only solved through what could called random speculation. It's a shame since there was actually a mystery-ish environment. Well, this was the best arc so far regardless. It had an interesting atmosphere.

Seeing more of Grevil was somewhat interesting, since his personality kinda balances out the other two's in my opinion.

In a discussion on 2channel of Victorica's age, based on the novels, they are debating whether she is 14 (probably) or 15 at this point.

The one illogical thing I think was not illogical was the fires sprouting up so quickly around town. It was not meant to be real time, but just showing what happened over a period of time -- a period in which our heroes ran across town to the gate, as well. Whether someone else should have stopped the flaming madwoman is an open question, however.

Harminia looked more 16 than 6 in the flashbacks to the murder. But the timeline makes sense: Cordelia is banished at 15; she has Victorica five years later, after years as a dancer and getting picked up by de Blois; and Vicky is now 14-15.

Victorica's strength is the least unrealistic thing that happened in this ep. <_< Though it's not just about strength, but also weight. Kujo should have pulled her down, without something to hold her back.

Was that jar supposed to be solid gold? Because gold is heavy. That much of it can't be picked up and thrown around casually like that.

Did Herminia rig her village to blow before hand? And plant an accelerant on the bridge?

And let's not even get into the history of Seyrun. I can't believe Philionel's descendants would degenerate into that.
