I also kinda like this Momoji girl. She seems different compared to the other girls but I think she can be a good friend and rival for Aoba.

The amount of blood Hazuki dropped after seeing that particular scene has to be some sort of record

Nekomimi maids invade the office today as Hazuki feels as if she's died and gone to heaven!

Meanwhile Momo gets to know the character team as they have their ice breaker with each other and Momo ponders the strange it's totally not love honest feelings so don't get the wrong idea fool feelings that Aoba provokes in her.

So... like... does anyone here have some experience at work when your boss as very vocal and expressive fetishes? Especially to the new people?

Anyone?

Beansprouts! Cheap and delicious- but mostly just cheap. In japan these seem to be the default "healthy" alternative to the traditional college student diet consisting solely of instant ramen.

Momo's appetite almost makes more sense with the original manga character designs, which make it abundantly clear where all of those calories go.

Cute episode this week. I love the glasses stuff and getting to know more about Hajime's past.

Am I the only one that thinks she looks better with longer hair?

Long hair is always better.

When the chapter for Nene and Naru's conversation was posted, Naru was immediately jumped onto most readers' "worst girl" lists. She's pretty harsh against two people she knows almost nothing about, although Nene's failure to expain the situation properly is definitely a major contributing factor. Listening to Naru's voice when she's tearing into Nene, I can hear it wavering slightly. This isn't just disgust or frustration, she is genuinely upset. I think she took Nene's lighthearted attitude as a personal attack on her dream. It is pretty clear that she's misunderstanding the situation, due to Nene not giving her anywhere near enough information. We know that Nene can work very hard and learn very fast when she's properly motivated, and Umiko is counting on that to turn her into a net asset to the company, even though she's starting off as a defecit. But all Naru heard was "I don't really have a dream, but yours sounds nice, maybe I'll try doing that. I hadn't really considered programming, but Umiko bent the rules to get me in, so here I am." To Naru that must have sounded like Nene was insulting all the genuine emotion she had for her dream, and all the years of work and study Naru had spent just to get to where she is now.

I hope Umiko & the chara team will know Naru's true color.. I'd like to see Kou Slap, Aoba's intimidation, & Umiko's "the reason you sucks" speech..

I'm not exactly enjoying Momiji and Naru considering their motivations lead to some awkward behaviour that doesn't mesh well with the rest of the cast.

I don't find Momiji's rivalry towards Aoba cute at all. If anything, Kou's initial impression is spot on: it is a pain in the ass, and that kind of petty behaviour might affect the team as a whole if she does something stupid. It is good she is trying her best to reach Kou, but at the same time, it isn't like beating Aoba will do anything about that dream aside of self satisfaction.

Meanwhile, color me disappointed how Naru jumped on the gun with Nene. Sure, Nene didn't give her enough information, but it isn't like you should expect someone to tell you the whole situation either. Regardless how Nene was flippant regarding her dream and whatnot, it doesn't mean she didn't work properly to have Umiko's approval.
In fact, even if Naru doesn't really know all the circumstances, it should be obvious that Umiko isn't the kind of person who would let someone's incompetence slide just because they are acquaintances or something.
To me, Naru's bitter reaction is quite entitled: Nene's (lack of) dream doesn't stir much motivation, but that shouldn't be the sole driving force for Nene, and her usual behaviour is a testimony to that.

Well, not like New Game will go through some nasty story develpment whatsoever, but color me quite unimpressed by the new recruits.

Well, Naru doesn't know anything about how Nene worked to earn Umiko's approval. We know, she doesn't. This places audience sympathies with Nene, but it's important to remember that Naru is coming into this blind, and all she's got to help her understand these people are a couple days of impressions and whatever anyone tells her. Nene basically just told her "I only got a job here thanks to Umiko-san." Naru doesn't actually know Umiko the way we do: she hasn't seen her diligent professionalism, her hidden soft side, her hardcore discipline, her determination to meet deadlines, or any of the other things that might have convinced her to think twice about what Nene just told her. She did say it didn't seem to match her impression of Umiko, but Nene is here, is clearly getting assignments that show she isn't a fully qualified programmer, and has told her outright that Umiko was the one who got her hired. Naru doesn't have a reason to doubt it, and so her impression of Umiko and Nene both took a nosedive.

Also, I would like to say that I don't think Naru is judging Nene for not having a dream. I think she is angry that Nene seems to think she can jump in and succeed at Naru's dream without having put in the effort Naru has put in to get this far. To me it sounded like she was insulted that Nene seemed to be saying "I haven't had a dream so far, but yours sounds good to maybe I'll do that!" and that Nene seemed to believe she could get ahead without putting in the sort of affort such a dream deserved. I believe she felt that Nene's words were like a personal attack on her, and so she turned it around in a personal attack against Nene.

Now, we as viewers understand that she is wrong, that Nene had no intention of hurting her, that Naru doesn't understand Nene's real situation at all, and thus was totally unjustified in lashing out at her. But Naru doesn't know that. There's no way for her to know that right now. Yes, she should have held a tighter grip on her temper and tried to understand the situation more fully before speaking, but even with that I'm not going to condemn her for a misunderstanding.

To me, Hajime is better with short hair. But the way she has it currently is just a bit too short. Neck length would be perfect.

Was fine with Naru giving Nene a hard time. It allowed her to realized how lucky she is to be in the position she's in.
Twice cooked pork without pork, don't think I seen that mentioned since I watched Cowboy Bebop

I dunno. Frankly, the way how Umiko interacted with Nene and Tsubame during the welcome party wasn't anything that different than usual. Heck, Umiko outright tell Nene not to get too cocky and defining her as a beginner anyway. That's not something you say casually in such context.
Even if we assume both didn't interact that much with Umiko before the first assignment, Umiko wasn't particularly biased, and her "keep the noise to a minimum" is enough to tell you she is kind of strict. This is something you don't say on the face of people in Japan even though it is expected with their usual etiquette. When someone outright tell you that, it raises some flags already.

Tsubame's first negative reaction was pretty much the very moment Nene was like "well, why not trying to make a game as a dream too?". She was obviously upset when Nene realized only after the fact she could make games with Aoba if she does well. So Tsubame wasn't particularly happy Nene wasn't doing that for a very specific goal to begin with.

And it nosedived the moment she learned Nene's first contact with programming was basically "on a whim". This is particularly noticeable when Tsubame ranted "it must be nice to get approval because you were messing around". Tsubame's wording is pretty clear: the fact Nene got approval wasn't the problem, but rather how Nene got that approval.
Quote:

That's the very reason I'm not impressed by Tsubame's conclusion because Nene did say she was happy that she earned Umiko's recognization even a little. That choice of word tell you that she did try and got a result. However, Tsubame was triggered way too hard when Nene mentioned she was hired thanks to Umiko. And more importantly, Tsubame continued on her rant, even though Nene was trying to defend Umiko, not herself. That's the very moment Tsubame was particularly petty because not only she jumped on the gun, but didn't let Nene to explain the whole situation.
And it is even worse when Nene did say afterwards she was taking it seriously and kept defending Umiko there, and Tsubame kept lashing on her as if it was natural. Tsubame fails to see that Nene was clearly drawing the line between her and Umiko. The whole issue was completely on sided.

Overall, I'm not even defending Nene from the viewer perspective (which is kind of ironic to me because Nene is one of the characters I like the least in NG), but from the discussion context. Tsubame can only blame herself for not knowing the whole situation because she didn't even let Nene to explain herself when it counts.

It is kind of bad too that she boasts earning her place with raw skills while Nene herself said she earned recognization, which isn't something you can do with a mere debugger part time job. From my perspective, Tsubame was insulted because Nene didn't have any peculiar dream whatsoever, so she believe not only Nene is messing around but got rewarded for that, even when she was proved the opposite. She made the situation escalating because of her own standards, which is pretty bad when you consider working environment and usual japanese society and interactions.
