These guys attend an all-male high school. That would obviously lead to conversations and/or activities related to the curiosity of the opposite sex, which is already evident. The way I see it, NOT having some interaction with any females would just be bad in this circumstance.

Besides, most of the show revolves around the guys, anyways. Only like the last 2-3 minutes are devoted to the "High School Girls are Funky" stuff.

Then by all means, point out a situation where the girls, anyone of them, have stolen the guys' spotlight.

In case you haven't noticed, this isn't set in just their school- the setting is the entire city which involves multiple schools and their students.

Secondly, unlike what K-On would like us to believe, Single Sex schools aren't sanctuaries for their respective genders. I myself have been inside an All-girls school before... For official reasons of course >.>

Though obviously for that three skits it's meant to be played as a joke that anyone from everywhere goes to the Student Council for odd jobs- Hell you can think of it as a parody if you like.

It's more like I'm not complete sure what was the irony, because it can get progressively more meta...
  1. Yanagin does not wear her glasses for vision purposes.
  2. Yanagin wears them to fit in some kind of character stereotype. (I don't think it'd be the generic glasses girl, but as a brainy girl)
  3. Her dislike of males is just an act to hide her insecurity around guys.

This show, indeed, shows a dizzying list of school names. Remember, the three Funky girls are from different schools and they were only together because they were neighbours.

As such, this is a strangely community-centered for a Slice-of-Life manga series, and everyone seemed to have their community(Sanada) in their mind as well.

It's not about them stealing the spotlight at all, it's about them being present in such a large capacity. In episode 6 alone you've got yellow-haired guy's sister and her relationship troubles, then Tadakuni's sister and her relationship troubles, then the girl with her dog troubles, then Ringo-chan with her height troubles. That's 75% of the show right there.

Sure it's about how the guys interact with those girls, but I'd rather see more of the guys interacting with each other. After all, it's not like they're saying anything new, just example upon example of how high school boys find girls difficult and annoying to deal with. Okay, I get it, and? I wish they'd go back to the early days of the series.

I'm reminded a bit of 'Today in Class 5-2' when thinking about this series.

It seems like Mitsuo is treated as if one of those "slow" kids, right...?

And, Sugita, good job.

P.S. Who's that girl in Funky that teaches the girls to be ditzy?

For some reason, it's the only gag that can somehow remains fresh even after it's fourth edition

Plus this time we get to see a guy inflicting violence on a girl for the sake of comedy

Am i the only one who thinks this series usually loses steam when it's not focusing on the main trio?
Most of the others simply aren't as funny by themselves...unless they are interacting with the main characters. The club segments are especially "meh".

The Main characters are almost never there, the female characters don't even get faces and love flags get destroyed all over the place... So why is this so popular?!

Wow, episode 7 is really lulz! I'd put it at the same level as episode 1. I really laughed a lot.
I thought the Dragon Quest roleplay was gold! What an incredible party (awesome roleplay by the two), bathhouse owner included . When I thought that was the best part, they gave me doji-bungaku shoujo!

And Itou Shizuka! I hope Senpai continues to make an appearance. I also didn't realize Bungaku Shoujo is Hikasa Youko until today. Just how many of the awesome seiyuus are they going to bring in for this show? XD And I really love the Gintama vibes in the presentation!

Dragon Quest skit was brilliant, it perfectly parodies the endless fetch quest in the game. Also, the return of our hero JACK! Best segment is still Lit Girl though, this may be schadenfreude at its finest as I can't stop laughing looking at all the suffering she went through.

The skit with the teacher is hilarious too, and we finally get the name for Tadakuni's imouto! (is the reason we can't see her eyes is because she's hiding an eyepatch there? ) Looks like some flags are triggered looking at the scene break too....

The Mitsuo segment is not that funny, but in my opinion another true slice of life segment. We do gossip (though not as much as high school girls), but the main difference is that we don't speak behind their backs, we got no problem saying it to their face if necessary...also it's less bitching and more funny dumb stuff. And in the funky HS girls, this time they're making fun of the idiot-moe archetype. Looks like they really has an axe to grind about high school girls anime, huh?

She is simply cast as Senpai.
