I dunno if I'm looking forward to seeing the reactions of people watching this... if they follow the manga, there's gonna be a lot of raging.

Well that was a rather cute first episode (Rin was adorable, really happy they got a kid to voice her, and I love the background artwork, reminds me a little bit of the background art in Aoi Hana), looking forward to the rest of the show.

The ANN forums are already freaking out majorly so for the moment, let's just not even mention the ending, it's not like we can get through 55 chapters in 11 episodes anyway.

Think you need to switch C and Fractale around, C actually had a plan for the ending at least >.> (and No. 6, IMO has a better plot than Fractale as well)

I'm really thinking more of the bifurcate styles than the quality of the series themselves...

Could we do without the manga talk in this anime thread please?

May I join the chorus of praise? Good start. I especially loved the "child's eye view" they used sometimes. Made Rin's feelings more immediate and real. Especially the view into the plants, when the ladybug flew off.

Comparisons to Hourou Musuko and Aoi Hana are always a good thing.

I am not so sure about Rin's voice actress, Matsuura Ayu 松浦愛弓, but I'll give her time to find the right note(s). Matsuura-san turned ten on June 3:

Left: Rin and Matsuura Ayu. Right front (l-r): Tsuchida Hiroshi (Daikichi), Matsuura Ayu (Rin), Sakai Noa (Kouki), Ohara Sayaka (Kouki's mom). rear: Sakamoto Maaya (Masako), Ueda Kana (Haruko).

I've watched a streamed raw version of the first ep of No. 6, and that seems promising, too -- although totally different from this.

That was brilliant. It was the manga come alive. The watercolour style background art worked beautifully, and the characters just sounded right. Fantastic.

I think I've just found my favourite show of the season, although the third series of Natsume Yuujinchou and Ikoku Meiro no Croisée are running close behind.

I'm dying to read the manga now. Not sure if I should get the licensed version or the japanese... Maybe both. Loved this episode. : D Very sweet.

Ugh, I think I just got a cavity.

Needless to say, I'm in. Got some nice Hourou Musuko vibes from the start, but I think I actually prefer the style the settled on for this particular story. So much detail, even in things like the stone path, and the wood of the cupboards.

Usagi Drop is full on daaaaaw fuel mixed with high-octane sucrose. This thing will leave you toothless and drop kick your pancreas if not taken in small doses.

This show has me hooked.

I think someone said earlier that it's being done by the same division of production IG that did Kimi ni todoke and that style reminds me a lot of what Kimi ni Todoke's OP and ED were like, especialy the ED

I like it, the art especially. I think it would also suit My Girl, should it ever be animated, with which my holy trinity of childcare stories would be complete.

The OP's already grown on me quite a bit.

Great show! Production values are really good, in particular Matsutani's score, as is the stylized animation. Hopefully, this adaptation will give a more appropriate ending.

Which is the third one, besides My girl and Usagi Drops?

Considering the production focus of the series and that it has 11 episodes, I doubt that we'll even see Teenage Rin, thus no "new ending" nor "old ending" is going to be made for the series.

This isn't a shoujo if that's what you are asking. While this being a josei you can "smell" the hand of the female writer through the events, the story is moving enough and the characters can create enough sympathy for the reader to stick to them through the happenings of the plot.

The story won't spit flowers at you nor present you with badly written love triangles between generic designs; the dryness and realism in the story is one of it's strongest points and with that you can get glued to it despise your gender.

And Daikichi is kinda cool in a collar worker kinda way, so yeah.

Liked how realistic the first episode of this was.

Do like the artistic/animation style, as that adds greatly to the realism (slightly 'gritty' relative to a moe anime, but still with nice attention to detail).

The adults come across as adults, the 30 year old male lead came across like a 30 year old man to me, and the kids came across as kids. Nothing is overdone, or underdone.

The overall execution of this episode couldn't be much better, really. Pacing was exactly what it should be.

The OP and ED were nicely different from what you see in most anime shows.

Nothing worth criticizing, honestly. Very impressive first episode.

Aishiteruze Baby. I've been reading Flat too but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Watch it. It doesn't really feel like shoujo/josei.
