For 14,000 pounds, it's an impressive build of AI.

Le: you have big breasts
Aiko: stop teasing me. stop looking at my breasts.

he gave her some attitude, i approve, lol.
She can read off the sheet, converse in simple convo, locate all weater reports for countries and tell you before you leave if you need an item to suit it (eg: take a brolly if it's raining)
She can ID objects, calculate math equations and so on.
Yeah he programmed this to her, but it's complex enough that her reactions don't seem so stifled, it's kinda insane, lol.

I like this story, it amuses me how ignorant people can be.

Yes people who are completely ignorant are not that bad, because sometimes they just ask too many questions and try to learn what they are wondering about, it is the people who think they know what they are talking about but cannot compute that they could possibly be wrong about something, those are the type of people that i hate with a passion.

Unfortunately, I routinely watch Americans eat that much and more at restaurants (and the results show it). Wife and I often buy one meal and an appetizer, split it, and call it good.
The problem is now officially in Guam, Hawaii and "pew pew pew governor's state" Alaska. Had social workers coming in from these three states (wait, Guam's not a state, but whatever) come for a meeting, and they thought the host's servings (for adults, mind you) were kid's meals. This in a meet on Taiwan.

You've haven't seen Singapore/Malaysia. Step into a respectable foodcourt and you'd see at least 10 kinds of food, if not 20. British food seems to be either fish and chips, lamb intestines, or curry. I think London is a different story, but step out of London to say, Manchester.

The countries on that list, most take yam as staple food. Yam is high in carbohydrates and sugar.

And yams USED to be fine because they lived a very high caloric output lifestyle.... but then we gave them television and many "energy saving tools" so they could sit for long periods of time --- and they exploded.

There are a number of Indian tribes suffering from tremendous obesity in the US that researcher have basically found the same results. Their traditional foods and their capacity for energy storage now conflict directly with their sedentary lifestyles.

yeah, I know.... I was just conflating the US myth of "manifest destiny" with our cancerous style of consumerism. So I think we're sarcasming the same way

(and on that mangling of english I'm off to bed)

I also suspect that production will consist of growing a number of sets and then creating copies of that, each of which will then evolve a separate sense of self as it interacts with its environment.
Exactly. The problem I see with true AIs is that, supposing we ever figure out the algorithm our brain uses for learning (IF there's a single one involved) it will be necessary to let it grow and learn exactly how a human would (or else you would be looking at manual environmental data input and output, which is what we're doing today). And even if that happens, just like it happens with humans, it's very unlikely to lead to exactly what we want it to do unless we tightly control the environment it grows in. True AIs mustn't rely on manual response conditioning.

Oh, and once we figure out how to get an AI which has the learning capacity of a human being, I'd be really freaked out. Not because of what the AI could do, but what could be done to people in case we ever figure out how to effectively manipulate the environment humans grow in to get them to do what we want.

Latest IE security alert
Quote:
Users of the world's most common web browser have been advised to switch to another browser until a serious security flaw has been fixed.
Common basic user: What's a browser?

Dear Japan,
Stop creating websites with media that has to be played in wndows media player and websites that can only be viewed in bloody IE, forcing me to potentially be exposed to things as the news report says.
</end mini rant>

This one seems pretty bad than the usual security attacks though. Well if it's the most popular, it'll get attacked the most, (before the fruit mob comes grinning by).
The amusement i see was that it's currently the most read news story on bbc atm, meaning i wonder how many peeps are panicking

You seeeeeeriously have a fondness for lists, huh?
You've only joined last month, but i've already noted your posting style.

4 browsers? All-newly updated ones too..

I use 3: Opera 7.1, Mozilla 1.7.5, and IE6. Old browsers??

How's Chrome? Isn't it still in beta?
