She can read off the sheet, converse in simple convo, locate all weater reports for countries and tell you before you leave if you need an item to suit it (eg: take a brolly if it's raining)
She can ID objects, calculate math equations and so on.
Yeah he programmed this to her, but it's complex enough that her reactions don't seem so stifled, it's kinda insane, lol.

Yes people who are completely ignorant are not that bad, because sometimes they just ask too many questions and try to learn what they are wondering about, it is the people who think they know what they are talking about but cannot compute that they could possibly be wrong about something, those are the type of people that i hate with a passion.

You've haven't seen Singapore/Malaysia. Step into a respectable foodcourt and you'd see at least 10 kinds of food, if not 20. British food seems to be either fish and chips, lamb intestines, or curry. I think London is a different story, but step out of London to say, Manchester.

And yams USED to be fine because they lived a very high caloric output lifestyle.... but then we gave them television and many "energy saving tools" so they could sit for long periods of time --- and they exploded.

There are a number of Indian tribes suffering from tremendous obesity in the US that researcher have basically found the same results. Their traditional foods and their capacity for energy storage now conflict directly with their sedentary lifestyles.

Exactly. The problem I see with true AIs is that, supposing we ever figure out the algorithm our brain uses for learning (IF there's a single one involved) it will be necessary to let it grow and learn exactly how a human would (or else you would be looking at manual environmental data input and output, which is what we're doing today). And even if that happens, just like it happens with humans, it's very unlikely to lead to exactly what we want it to do unless we tightly control the environment it grows in. True AIs mustn't rely on manual response conditioning.

Oh, and once we figure out how to get an AI which has the learning capacity of a human being, I'd be really freaked out. Not because of what the AI could do, but what could be done to people in case we ever figure out how to effectively manipulate the environment humans grow in to get them to do what we want.

Stop creating websites with media that has to be played in wndows media player and websites that can only be viewed in bloody IE, forcing me to potentially be exposed to things as the news report says.

The amusement i see was that it's currently the most read news story on bbc atm, meaning i wonder how many peeps are panicking
