It's an ambient sound effect that the author uses when the stakes are raised for the protagonists, which happens often enough (they eventually full ham and made the sound effect as part of some of the OST, which is what you may have seen). It's a little off topic, but I'd even go as far as saying that Kaiji is, thematically speaking, one of the closest series out there to Re:Zero in terms of having a plucky protagonist playing around in a field he does not belong to. And paying for it, but growing in the process. It is a gambling series instead of a fantasy series, but in terms of the sense of despair and piling misfortunate upon misfortunate it doesn't get much closer.

Just recently got a chance to listen to the second OST that was released last week and it was even better than the first! Probably due most of my favorites from the show being on this one.

If a season 2 happens Suehiro Kenichiro definitely has to comeback.

Well well, seems that Kadokawa has posted the official Full version of the 2nd Opening song for Season 2.

"Long Shot" by Mayu Maeshima.

This isn't the first time Mayu Maeshima did songs for Re:Zero.

Some of you may remember that she was a member of MYTH & ROID (left in Nov. 2017). They provided the 1st Ending song (STYX HELIX) & 2nd Opening song (Paradisus-Paradoxum) for Season 1.
