Transcoding Episodes

okay here is my problem, every time i create a dvd from the avi files i download, the screen seems to be too large for the TV and the subtitles are too low on the TV screen to read, the quality however is AWESOME, " just as good as a store bought dvd, but that doesnt matter seeing as how i am unable to read the subtitles.
the program i am using for dvd authoring is NeroVision Express 2,
the ratio is 4:3, the resolution i use is 720 by 480... any help people

You're not compensating for the overscan area on your television screen...

I don't watch alot of fansubs on a television but I believe one way to solve it is resize the video and add a black border around it's edges to restore it to it's original resolution.

720x480 -> 700x460 -> add 10 pixel black border to all sides -> 720x480

NOTE: I haven't done this before, so you might want to wait for the response of someone more knowledgable on the subject.

Also... Maybe this thread should be in the Technical Support area?
