The anime has been faithful to the manga for the most part, so I'm not really complaining. The only episode I felt was actually boring was episode 8, and Mikasa blush was worth the episode, although I think the manga phrased it better.

I can see why they put it in though, probably needed a few more minutes to fill in so why not put an action scene with a character that seems slightly popular...shame they put Annie in the backburner, hell! Potato-chan didn't even show up, what a crime. |

Very annoying. They are obviously trying to not catch up with the manga, but they should have waited until the Manga was finished, or just told Isayama to hurry the hell up with the story (since HE'S been stretching it out needlessly as well). This is what I was fearing would happen, the story gets padded out ridiculously thin, and the guy doesn't even get near to finishing the main story by the time it catches up to it anyway. . .resulting in: Claymore. *shudders* 1/10 |

Really have to say this is getting to Dragon Ball Z status for moving things forward. Think at this point the last 5 episodes could have been easily compressed into 3 without it feeling rushed at all and still had the same amount of character development. Lets just hope Eren does not learn how to form a Spirit Bomb or we will be spending 10 episodes on that.

When she was taking out her steel blades, it looked like she was going toward that guy that "wanted to go back up the wall". If Ian didn't interfere, she might have commited murder... Not to mention the scene where the Coward-Captain bombarded Eren...

Not sure if serious or just trolling. Have you even read the manga? If you did, go read again. |

The episode had very little filler, this is just the slowest arc in the entire story so far.
Most of this arc was about character development and an expansion on Eren's role in the bigger scheme of things. I imagine Eren is going to plug up that hole next episode and things will develop from there. The last arc was very action heavy, this one was just very development/dialogue heavy.

Though I do question the decision to end the arc at ep13 instead of ep12.
Keep in mind that this series is already confirmed to be 25+1 episodes, so cut out that "needlessly stretch it out" bs. The 2nd arc has a semi-definite end point and it just won't feel right if the last episode don't reach it there.

The show itself has decent production as far as the animated movement goes. The still shots in this episode are acceptable considering nothing really is accomplished by animating few hundreds Titans' strolling and zombie-walking. The weekly wait probably makes this kind of episodes unbearable to few who are tuning in for the shounen aspect of it which is fighting in general. Next episode might see a few action though the preview wasn't overly promising. Either way, by not throwing money around in this type of character-development episode, the animators can make good use of the budget when the action is the focus of an episode. So I'm guessing we will see some decently animated episode in the near future.
Episode was good!

Oh, my LORD, these people. If you're not going to even treat your only chance with any shred of hope then just leave and get yourself eaten. I cannot stand people like this, who give up on something at the first sign that it won't go exactly according to plan. That's life, it's full of obstacles and things often don't go as we expect.
"Oh noes, he's not doing exactly what we asked him to in the first thirty seconds in this new form we have yet to even study, obviously that means all of this was for naught and we should just give up as our society crumbles around us." It's not even just that, it's them trying to mask their own cowardice behind what they're dressing as an ultimate failure, when it reality they have yet to actually even give it a real chance. Both Rico and that other guy kept trying to convince Ian they should go when it was obvious they were both so shaken and afraid that in truth it was just a convenient excuse to get the hell out of dodge. I do enjoy how good Pixis is at guilt tripping these pushovers who are supposed to be the Elite, though. "The elite aren't mere soldiers, they are the ones whom I have entrusted the fate of mankind. To give up so easily would be unforgivable." Overall, another Filler-ific filler episode full of filler. 6/10, if only because there was no gratingly annoying speech from anybody, though Armin is sort of getting on my nerves a bit. Also, lol at the boyfriend comment. |
