Which is of course preposterous, Mars is still within the solar system.
especially on twitter, where it seems to be a foreign concept that some Japanese can possibly speak english and there is actually Brazilians or Americans, etc, of Japanese ancestry.

No, no, Franklin and Jefferson are just fine, though both states voted Trump in the election.

Oh, that reminds me.
People who were born after start of the Matrix, South Park, Harry Potter, and Buffy the vampire slayer are going to turn 20 this year and become full adults.

Now you feel really old. You're welcome

Dumbass Almost Hit By Train Because the
Future is Too Damn Quiet:

"Authorities in Auckland, New Zealand are urging all dumbasses to look both ways before
they cross train tracks, after a local dumbass was nearly hit yesterday. But in fairness to
the dumbass, the new electric trains in the area are pretty quiet. Too quiet, if you ask this
dumbass."

See:

Even if the train is quiet, shouldn't the train signal be making noise?

Well, the lights are flashing, so I'd guess the answer is yes, though I've not visited New Zealand. Maybe the dumbass has headphones or earbuds on.

I'm more inclined to say that the person is a total idiot. I mean: lights and sound signal were on, and you have to be utterly stupid to miss both.

Plus, if you're going to look to see if a train is coming, you generally turn and check the other way BEFORE you've already crossed the tracks.

Man forcibly removed from United flight due to Airline Overbooking to allow United staff to take seats

Yeah, there's gonna be a huge backlash for this since the man they forcefully remove from his seat was a Doctor who an appointment with his patients.

this is what's wrong with Corporate America

the guy was victimized and now they drag him through the mud and bring up his past which is nothing to do with the current incident

I bet if one of us Animesuki poster ever got into trouble with Corporate America the headlines would read
"XYZ had a troubled past. Committed software piracy. Has a preference of anime, a genre infamous for under-aged looking girls"

Yeah the smear campaign by some of the media outlets was blood-boiling outrageous.
In fact, I would say it was even more sleazy practice than the actual beating itself, which speaks volumes.

It read like a goddamn tabloid. The victim was a bisexual who embezzled opioids to pay for sex decade ago.
....AND!? How is that in any way relevant!? This is victim shaming at its finest.

This isn't a silly/odd news, it's legitimately concerning news that just gets worse and worse as it develops.

Why so soft? Why not "anime, a kind of child pornography" since I'm sure someone, somewhere views anime that way and I would put it past some "news" organizations to skip to that conclusion.

The sad part about the time we live in is that absurdity has become the new norm. I always remember the original Robocop when this happens. That movie was a parody back when it came out but today it almost feels topical. :/

Someone, somewhere? I think a lot of "normies" still do. You gotta wait until the X-gen and millenials takes over to consider anime being a little socially acceptable.

Anime fans have their own civil war. The moe vs anti-moe factions, to name one.
It's not going to be all acceptance and happiness

But yeah, imagine if you watched say... Oreimo and those corporate journalists found out about it
Kiss your private life goodbye

On another note, since we are digging up troubled pasts. here's one for United Airlines
