I was right after all. There was an episode this week...

But it was pretty boring...
Well, Rararagi-san's interaction with Mayoi was fun, but that was about it. He had a usual conversation with Hitagi again, but it ended with her acting incredibly overdramatic and bothersome. Tiring girl... ( -_-)
The part with Iinchou left me looking around the room.

No idea what the new girl is about... Considering the monkey in the title and her hands, I wonder if the story has something to do with a Monkey Paw?

The OP didn't change... They didn't manage to make it in time? I wish they would at least use Mayoi's again...

Two posters above me were complaining about the dialogue they cut from the books... And I said that it's an adaptation, it's a fairly short adaptation, so they're gonna have to cut some stuff if they want everything to fit.

So what exactly got cut in the transition to novel in this particular arc/episode?
Since the novels aren't translated I'm going to need some examples of these gross discrepancies before I set my Hitagi pillow case on fire.

Every episodes of Bakemonogatari is already full of dialogues. If you still said that it cut off more than 50% of dialogues then it really can't be helped. They only have 15 episodes for 5 arcs and each episode only has about 20 mins.

my jap isn't that good, but I think it has something to do with Araragi asking so much about Suruga. Senjo got psycho jealous and Koyomi confessed at the end that she's the only one he thinks of (which causes Senjo to stop). I think, I dunno lol.

At least that scene is nicely done. And then they cut it off for commercials (oh god, timing).

Is the phone call even comprehensible in the anime? They basically cut out his entire side of that conversation, and while I guess you still get the important bits, it felt pretty long and boring to listen to as a monologue.

Not happy with the way they made the envelope scene appear so "conveniently", since one of the best things about the novels is how things happen in a proper timeline and cause consequences later on. In the anime it just feels like a sudden excuse.

They've also cut out everything about his precious bike, which was one of my favourite parts. And the brick wall. What's with all these rails?

I don't know, it would be kind of awkward for there to be a dai-service scene since Koyomi is lying away from her. I do agree about the envelope though, it does seem to be put there simply to give her a reason to be there to save him though. And seeing the bike hitting the pole in slow motion was pretty enjoyable.

I didn't like how they made it look as if he was overwhelmed from the beginning when he actually evades quite a few of the hits in the novel.

She got mad because he didn't use an honorific with Kanbaru's name, meaning that he is close to her. She also makes a "joke" with Koyomi later by asking something like "what is flooded on top and burning on the bottom." The answer is Kanbaru's home...

You're confusing me. Seeing it where? It wasn't in the anime, was it? It just got smashed in about 0.2 seconds and that's that.

How would the fanservice scene be more awkward than in the book? If I remember correctly she walks up to him and stands exactly above him intentionally. I mean, that's what makes it so perfect, solidifying that they have a relationship.

Maybe I'm just a perv?

Awkward as in that she would have to walk around him to stand there. I pictured her walking up to him from the direction that his head was pointing. It would seem more natural for her to just walk closer and let him look.

Yeah, me too. But "seeing" is really not the right word to use when trying to distinguish between an anime and a novel.

I suppose you're right, and maybe the direction is a hint that they'll skip the scene. In that case I'll be sorely disappointed, however, because I felt it was magnificent in the novel and puts Senjougahara firmly on the level of ultimate imaginary ladies.

Talking about this, I recalled that I spotted someone has been doing a teaser for the Bakemonogatari novels in Baka-Tsuki.

They're starting off with Koyomi Vamp.

You're probably thinking of Sengoku Nadeko, the girl of arc 4.

SHAFT usually adds things to the DVD release so I'm not really bothered by the cuts.

Also is the recap episode worth the time?

Senjougahara is a nice girl, but at the same time one would be better off avoiding her completely.

I have a question about the final scene in this episode.

I can't make out the scene of Senjougahara handing Oshino's payment to Araragi who's lying on the train tracks. Has time passed by since Araragi got attacked by the hooded stranger? (With the hint that's been given, I'm assuming this stranger is Suruga.)

If time has passed by, then it's one strange scene. Senjougahara just casually appears out of nowhere, sees a bloodied Araragi and thinks nothing of it. Healing power for the win, or cold to the bone girlfriend? Ah, what a strange feeling... to feel envious and pity for Araragi's circumstances all at the same time.

Also, is it just me who's thinking that Suruga may have a thing for Senjougahara? Hachikuji keeps on teasing Araragi about the possibility of Suruga being another admirer, but that whole bit just seems to be foreshadowing for the contrary. Senjougahara's story seems to hint at my assumption even more.

Anyway, I hope there is more to this than just a jealous third party. That would be predictable and really trivial in comparison to the way this whole arc is being set up by this episode.

Well... she certainly makes it clear who's the dominant one in this relationship. If he want a break up it would be most prudent to do it from the opposite end of the universe for his safety.

Is there any reason why Araragi can still see Hachikuji? Is it only because she want him to see her or is it somehow related to previous arc?

I'm also confused with the ending. Senjougahara just appears out of nowhere and acting so cold which makes me wonder that she is real or just hallucination.

Araragi can still see Hachikuji because she's no longer a lost snail. They explained it at the end of the last episode, that she moved from lost snail to a full blown ghost. I guess that's why he can still see her.
