This. I mean that's just bad direction. They had extra time to fill in, so you know what, they use a still, while natsu talks for about a minute. Then it shows Lucy watching on from what seems like nothing is going on, then happy is like, tune in next week. The majority of the kids that watch this freaking show have already read the manga, so not much of a cliffhanger in the first place, but still, no excuse.

Anyways, the episode was pretty good, pretty good for the series in general. Once again, bad directing. Shinji has better animation directors than the new one he just used for episode 27. Storyboard was pretty good, except for the dumbass cliffhanger. It had some pretty epic scenes, such as the two DS stood on top of the building, which reminded me of Noein a little. My own storyboard of this fight has some of those type of scenes. With that being said, I'm through with this series. They screwed my third fav. fight in one of the most action - packed series out there. I understand it might be hard to live up to the manga's epicness, but damn, you could at least make one great episode every 30 episodes or something. Sorry for complaing so much, I know you guys like to talk about the good things, but this show has way too many negatives for me, and I think it's one of the worst adaptions of all time! The only thing I'm waiting on is the release of the new opening by FUNKIST. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me where to find a download of it.

I think we have only had one real power up during the whole series which was Natsu learning how to control his flames against Erigor. Other then that its been how motivated he has been. Right now he has seen his clannies hurt, had a pep talk from Erza, and finally seeing his guild destroyed. Me thinks he is mighty pissed off atm
There has been no power ups for Natsu, and they're won't be, until we get very very far into the manga (which I don't see happening), unless someone stupid at the studio changes the anime. Natsu fights off of pure emotion, and that's it. In fact his power up in the manga isn't even his own doing.

Even if you want to bring the manga into it which you shouldn't in this thread, I have to disagree

His power up in terms of pure power, in manga and anime has been shown to be associated to his emotional state. blewin made the very good point that, that was just opening up the pipes and still needs to be fueled

Even though this is the anime thread, I can bring up stuff in the manga, as long as I don't spoil. I was using that refrence to show that was the only time he truly gets a power up. Arguing about this is pointless. There is no power up. The more pissed off he gets, the stronger he gets. When he runs low on energy, he eats fire to refuel his energy. Plain and simple.

Aren't you forgetting something? Only those who read the manga KNOW that he's about to win. All the rest don't know squat, so your complaint is pretty baseless. I didn't read the manga, and had no idea that the battle was almost over.

Episode 27 gave us a great fight, I do find it interesting, that he can still call Fairy tail "Trash" considering all they've done up until now. Natsu made him crack, that was cool, but I wonder if he can't make his flames hot enough to just melt to slag anything that's thrown at him maybe even the metal scales. The flashbacks were a nice touch. Especially the bits with Natsu joining Fairy Tail, and meeting Erza and Grey for the first time.

Even without manga knowledge, it looks like Natsu is about to win. He just deflected Gazille's breath weapon with his bare hands, and the guy's going "Impossible! How could I loooose?!" For the director, who does know the fight's ending in 30 seconds, the better choice would've been to go with the flow and finish big. Crowding that out with an overly-long flashback sequence is a double sin.

For the record, I did like all the flashbacks in and of themselves, but jamming all of them into this one moment was too disruptive. (I say again, it's time to stop when your sad music runs out.) The learning-to-read flashback was the best and the worst in that respect.

1: Mystogan was keeping busy. He's so badass.

2: Jose's beatdown was awesome. I was going "Makarov's going to break you in half" for the whole episode.

AWESOME episode.

A thought I had about the next episode.

The Title is:

"Atashi no Ketsui" (which I used "My Resolve"

which is dangerously close to
"Atashi no Ketsu" (which means "My Ass")

and is one of Lucy's standard tsukkomi
Probably coincidence... Probably.

I hope it is just a coincidence, though at the same time i like to think how smart the episode title come across as being.
