From RahXephon. "Tune the Rainbow" and "Hemisphere" are among my favorites as well, but I just love Maaya's harmony's here, and also because she's singing "A Stranger in Paradise" in Japanese.
Of course, Steve Conte's voice is nice too, but obviously, it's best when SHIKI (and various other badass characters' voice) starts singing.

Ever since I've heard her sing "Tori no Uta", the opening for Air, I've been her biggest fan ever since. I love her music, voice, and elegance. To me she's the true definition of beauty and talent. I haven't yet found anyone that could top Kokia for a beautiful singing voice, who also has many songs within my favorites.
As for everyday listening, I really like Do As Infinity (Singer: Tomiko Van) and High and Mighty Color (Singer: Mākii), especially for their high energy songs. I also really like the supercell non-vocaloid songs (Singer: Nagi Yanagi). Recently had my interest captured by some "hymnos", from Akiko Shikata in her performance in Utsusemi. |

My list is from games. Amazes me how awesome game soundtracks are.
"Lelianna's Song" from the game, Dragon Age: Origins "보이지 않는 슬픔" (Forgotten Sorrow) by the Korean singer, Yozoh, from NCSoft's Aion Online MMORPG "Still Alive" by Swedish pop star Lisa Miskovsky from the game, Mirror's Edge.

Suddenly I'm obsessed with listening to late Ritsuko Okazaki's songs. I knew of her songs and already were fond of them before but began searching for her other discography.
I find this one utterly beautiful.

Bump. In honor of upcoming Christmas, I present What Child Is This (my favorite Christmas song) by Josh Groban (yes, we need more male singers in this thread lolz).
Other artists for Christmas music are Bebo Norman and Corrinne May if anyone is interested, though there aren't too many of their songs on youtube as they aren't well known singers afaik.

My still voice favorites for female and male category
Maaya Sakamoto, even if she's already married, her voice still never wavers. during her teen song Platinum, mid 20's Loop, in relationship Triangular, and post-marriage Buddy. Shunichi Miyamoto, his voice is like magic in the ears which I've tried to mimic exacly that voice for six years but didn't get there to that level. I'm interested in Nao Toyama's singing voice, hopefully she gets more break next year in new animes. Here is some of her songs from The World God Only Knows and Ikoku Meiro no Croisee Spoiler for Crescent Moon:
Spoiler for Kokoro Kara Hajimaru Monogatari:

From a quick search, the other Utada songs don't seem to be as good as this. Her English is pretty good though. Quote:

I looked up Shunichi Miyamoto and find he is pretty good, to say the least. Note: skip past the first minute for to get to the part with his singing voice. christinemarie, where does this song from his rank on your list of favorites from him? Just quickly browsing through, it's the first song I came to that truly impressed me. ======= This is one that's grown on me lately. Not a top tier example, but impresses me enough to at least mention here. Not really sure why though. Her vocal range is really limited. It could just be how soft and gentle her voice is and how sorrowful the song is and how that combination gets you to maybe sympathize a bit. I think I felt one of her more powerful notes reverberate in my chest. EGOIST - Euterpe: Last edited by Varaxis; 2011-12-06 at 14:51. |

I love Utada Hikaru's singing
Just realized how lovely Fukuyama Masaharu's voice is in this song all over again... Technically he's not amazing or anything but he just has a really nice rich voice, he usually sounds better live, too. Another recent favourite of mine: (live on radio)

Not really buying into any of the Masha stuff that has been linked. In fact, I'm getting tired of clicking on the videos of him. That first one in your last post had a hint of promise, due to the stage ambiance, but his voice just doesn't appeal and the instrumental compositions are fairly weak, leaving the voice unsupported. There's a clear pattern here. You can have a voice like Lauren Hill, Whitney Houston, Kokia, Utada Hikaru, or Maaya Sakamoto, but I don't think you'd have many popular songs if you only sang and didn't have quality instrumental compositions to support it. I'd have more of the beautiful voices in this thread as favorites if they were part of a band, rather than solo artists. I would be more likely to say Do As Infinity is one of my favorite bands than say Tomiko Van is my one of my favorites--I have a large collection of DaI songs, but none of Tomiko's solo songs, but have sampled them on YouTube. I used to really like High and Mighty Color, until Makii left. I never thought to follow Makii after she left to see if she did anything else. |

Himitsu Kichi - Takada Kozue [Eureka Seven, 1st ED]
I have a thing for that kind of voice... Rurutia, like, all her songs... Genwaku no Kaze and Seirios are my favourites that comes to mind. (waaah there's no Genwaku no Kaze on youtube =( ) For non-Japanese, Imogen Heap, all her songs. Especially Headlock, Let Go, and Goodnight and Go. Do the Japanese have soul music? I love soul. |

It's curious that Maaya Sakamoto is mentioned several times but one of the best vocalists working with Yoko Kanno and Yuki Kajiura does not occur on the first 3 pages of this thread. No one here knows Akino Arai? Strange! She could be called an anime veteran.
The songs where her voice shines are "Toki no Shirabe" http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5u...no-shira_music "Voices" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYDGE...eature=related "Hiru no Tsuki" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz150...eature=related "Licao do Vento" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F58tDy0rKHc "Mikazuki to Watashi" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K4kv14TT1I "Moonlit song" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6d6zuXqzIG8 "Kiniro no Toki Nagarete" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omy0RzG_kSw Of course Yoko Kanno sings also herself and she's got an amazing voice too. She sings under the name Gabriela Robin. The most popular song might be "Moon" from "Turn A Gundam" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PU35fJNtxp8 A great compilation of gorgeous songs can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRJqB...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FlXd...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E851m...eature=related |
