Tohru got out of hospital, ran away from Kyo (he had previously said that "her love was an illusion" when she confessed to him)... Kyo chased her down, cornered her, let his feelings spill, and then the two hugged! They didn't have to be on the ground

2. Yes, Tohru's a girl and Kyo's a boy, no doubt about that!

Each time I'm following a manga and the art is changing, everyone prefer the later except me!

I mean, the lines are thin now, and every face is generic. Compare Haru's eyes at the begining of the manga to now, they had a different form than those of Kyo, Yuki etc, but now, they're the same as everyone! It's like the mangaka is lazier. *pout*

Hmm, I suppose I understand you...

I know what you mean; the later artwork leaves much to be desired, but the beginning artwork is so typically "big eyes... BIIIIIG eyes, small body" that it's grating to me

But yes, I agree: Personally, I think later-Tohru and later-Machi just don't look different enough. If you take away the context, I'd have trouble telling them apart in isolation!! I have to repeat, though, that they now look a LOT like my classmates -_-

Hmm, I think I prefer the artwork around chapter 90; forgot which volume that was in. Tohru and Hana looked stunning in the Cinderella play, heheheh.

Fruits Baskets is one of my most favorite mangas! Tohru's my favorite character. She's a very kind and caring person. When Kyo turned into that monster, she wasn't scared at all.

hello. i'm not a furuba manga reader, but i've read up on what's been going on in it, and this post is regarding kyouko saying she won't forgive kyo. Is there any resolution to this/could somebody explain this to me better? why did she say she wouldn't forgive kyo? I can't really picture her, from what kind of person tohru says she is in the anime even saying that to anybody. Thanks for any replies.

I believe the last chapter of Fruits Basket has already come out in Japanese... not so sure about scanlations (particularly because technically it's been licensed) and I was hoping to discuss the ending of the series with someone. Anyone.

Because it was bothering me.

It was a fairly nice ending. However... I did not like who Yuki ended up with. I started getting really annoyed with Akito's emo outbursts that more often than not led no where... and the fact that it was always Kureno's fault. Everything was Kureno's fault. The manga got more and more difficult to understand...

... and what did Takaya-sensei do to Momiji?! When I first laid eyes on him, I was like... Man, puberty hit this boy hard. I'm not sure about the time jump or anything... but it was within a year, right?

Momiji liked Tohru, didn't he? As in, for real?

Was Akito still in love with Shigure till the end... if she ever were to begin with? And is Shigure really just the evil bastard that he's made out to be?

Any thoughts anyone? I seriously have many things that's been itching me since I finished reading the manga--though admittedly, there were a few chapters I couldn't get my hands on-- ch 119 to ch 122 and ch 127 and everything after ch 129--I did a bit of reading around on blogsites. Though, I'm sure I'm bound to be wrong somewhere, still.

The chapter 131 is not the last one, chapter 132 should be published next month (the 5 I think), and for now we don't know if it's the final chapter or the beginning of the last part of the manga.

It wasn't Kureno fault and all the reader know that , but Akito has always taken the easiest way : to put the blame on someone else instead of herself and Kureno was the perfect candidate for that.

Yes Momiji has grown that much on less than a year and yes he really love Tohru that has been hinted since a long time ago.

I think that Akito really love Shigure, (and Shigure really love Akito). Shigure is not an evil bastard, but to make Akito realize thtat what she was doing was wrong he has had to play the role of the "devil" but he know than he would have to pay the price one day or another.

As you said it Miles Teg, Kureno is the ideal candidate for that, because for Akito he betrayed her for being the only one who's a "normal" human. He is "first sinner"

About Momiji, he liked tohru like a brother and not really a lover. He challenged Kyo in the vol.19. only in the purpose of making him more.. hum.. combative, in the hope that he won't give up her, because Kyo was thinking that after all, he can't do anything about his relation with Tohru ^^'
He said himself that "I say that now to you so that you open the eyes" ; )

About Shigure, it's really complex oO Akito loves him. He loves Akito. But because she's with Kureno (only because Shigure maked love her mother ^^'), he wanted to crush her. He played the "devil" as you said, but he only did it in the purpose of taking his revenge. In fact, being or not one of the 13, he doesn't really care, because he already knows that the end will come (maybe the dream... : p). So he's not a really bastard... he's just jealous about kureno XD

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere (don't ask me now where since I don't remember... it was some blog where the author reviews manga chapters and stuff)... that the manga ended with all the animals coming back to dinner. It's like a full circle--it started with the banquet, ended with the banquet. Uhm... so... is ch 132 THE last chapter?

But, see, that's the part I'm not entirely sure of. Is Momiji really in love with Tohru or was he just taunting Kyou because Kyou is stupid? (Like Hidari said)... or was it some form of self-sacrifice on his part? I almost thought Momiji looked up to Tohru as a sort of sisterly figure.


And as for the Yuki/Machi pairing. I don't know. Maybe it's just because she appeared in the latter part of the manga and we didn't really get to know her as well as all the other characters--to me, she sort of just felt like an extra of sorts. The relationship between Yuki and her is just... too awkward. For me. It's... cute, maybe. But just too awkward. And, I have to admit... I'm still WTF-ing from the whole "I love you, Tohru... AS A MOTHER." ... I'm like, who the heck says that kind of thing?! Seriously. I thought he was kidding.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a 100% Kyou/Tohru fan... and I never believed in Yuki/Tohru... (I had a friend who did though.... and really, it was fairly amusing the way she reacted when she read that bit. I was there, pointing at her and laughing my head off... while she cried and mourned. It was amusing.) ... but... I think that's pushing it a bit. What part of Tohru, was, in any way at all, motherly? All Tohru ever did was smile and act careless. I mean, I love her... I really do. But, I just can't see what's so special about her... that would make Yuki make such a conclusion.


As for Shigure... well, wouldn't he be like an evil bastard for doing all of that... ESPECIALLY the bit about having sex with her mom--a woman Shigure knows Akito absolutely loathes? Wouldn't that make him, really... heartless? He loves her? Really...? It hurts the way he just pushes her away like that. I have to admit, I hated Akito in the beginning... but towards the end... I kind of ended up feeling sorry for the little pittiful thing... regardless of the fact that she kept screaming and going all emo on us.

I know it isn't Kureno's fault, but I hate the fact that he kept taking her shit... no matter what she did or what he didn't do.

Oh... and what does anyone think about the thing between Hatori and the teacher (what's her name? I swear... I'm getting all the names mixed up, I think I have to re-read the manga). I'm confused as to how Shigure feels about that. and... how Hatori feels about it.

Which is your favourite chapter in the whole thing? And whose story do you think is the saddest?

Oh... and here's a completely personal question. Did anyone actually cry while reading the manga (and/or watching the anime)?

I cried when I could not distinguish Tohru and Kagura in the manga. Their drawing arts are very similiar.
Seriously, I feel the anime is much better, when it comes to bring out your emotion.
