Allow me to re-establish the "Keima fanclub" theory.

I wouldn't go so far as heroic, but I've also noticed that he's essentially nice at heart, and that he's quite talented -- scratch that, he's a god -- when he seriously do something.

Keima's main flaw is his negative view on reality. Despite the world being changed by his website, Keima does not believe that a mere website can affect the real. From this, we can extrapolate that Keima doesn't believe that a single person (i.e. himself) can change the world.

However, neither is directly related to my point in that the difference between series Keima and oneshot Keima is that the latter blushes and thinks about what he'd say but doesn't say while the latter has no qualms about saying it. Whatever his views on reality or his inherent niceness, he seems like a person who doesn't chafe under normal people's "disapprovals"...he didn't even really recognize that he was a "problem child" status until the teacher arc! That makes him more interesting than he was in the oneshot. We've met people like oneshot Keima often enough in manga; unique characters like he is in the series only come around now and then.

3) Personally, I think the main reason why the characterization was changed was having the looming threat of abyssal horrors being unleashed on the world in the case of failure seems a bit dark for a comedic series. Furthermore a time limit of 7 days makes other types of captures such as Yukie's method all but impossible.

The whole End of the World thing is actually really common in comedies (see My Balls for an extreme example ); in fact in the series his life is still technically in danger. The pacing and story ignores that part of the setting completely though, and I can't say I miss it. The collar just looks cute to me, in the Kang Shichan from Aflame Inferno style of cute.

I don't think they actually count as lolis, but I'm sure they'll come in due time. What I'm wondering is if he'll ever have to deal with a trap. I know these spirits only target women, in order to be reborn, but there may be loopholes, right?

I think he might have played to games that have traps on it..

I wouldn't know. I don't think that'd be as fun as an actual trap. I think it'd be great if there's this very cute girl whom he has to exorcise, and whom he starts developing an actual liking to (despite being 3D). Then, once the business is finished, boom, he's a guy. Then we can see Keima in shock.

But the underlining problem to that is the fact that the spirits possess only girls not because of aesthetics reasons, but biological.

It seems Keima was a bit melancholic after this arc. He must have put more emotions in to ensure that it will close the gap entirely which backfire a little.....

I agree, he's been feeling more involved in the "real world work" lately. I was kind of disappointed last time when the momentum at the end of the Chihiro arc (when he had an epiphany) got cut off by a filler, I wonder if the manga's going to further develop Keima's character soon?

I personally loved Minami. One of the more realistic girls so far. Plus, the ending was great, and it's nice to see some development on Keima's part.

I've always felt sad when the time came where the girl would forget Keima, but this time I felt the saddest than any of the other girls, half of it because Minami was so cute, and the other half was because Keima for the first time looked a little sad to lose her.

Just read the one-shot, gotta say I was surprised to see such an anti-social character being the lead...just as surprised to see that he could apply those leet skills to win the heart of a woman, this is fantasy indeed
