Wings are totally unsurprising--the Nanoha wiki's had the Fortress wings mentioned for some time now, and I assumed they had a good reason for it...

I disagree; the best wings are the ones that are also on fire. There is nothing more delicious than a good serving of hot wings.

V2's Wings of Light could do pretty much anything the writers could think of. Fortress's seems to be purely cosmetic.

Yeah, like adding wings. Suddenly the performance of the entire machine increases. Like I said, it's a Gundam upgrade.

Dunno about the accuracy, but the Nanoha wiki says the energy wings appear when a cartridge is loaded into the Fortress. That being said, it's likely connotative of a speed increase, as the Fortress is primarily used for defense and flight in Zero Effect, where magical flight would normally be impossible. Thus, wings.

No, Destiny's wings didn't do anything other than screw up vision and radar. V2's wings of light could be used as giant beam sabers, beam sheilds, increased speed, and some other stuff.
